  • Hello there!
I am Abay from Moscow, Russia.
I would like to continue my English study here.
I hope the sum of my mistakes will to cut in this four weeks.
    Have a good day!

  • Hi everyone!
I am Abay. I am trying to learn Python. I am a bit has come later of all. I will do my best to have the new experience. Good luck for everyone!

  • I liked the method of identifying the professional skills.
Describing VUCA was a bit complex, and its relationship with skills was too light, as I think.

  • Laura, maybe your conclusion is too early.

  • When I fear something, I usually start to smile. I don't know why maybe it's adrenaline. Leal, try to smile and you will feel as energy change you.

  • This self-reflection was unpredictably very interesting for me. Maybe I did some mistakes, but my Communication skills are very gorgeous! Problem solving skills are also very well. There are some problems with Digital Literacy, Global Citizenship and Innovation. I can see myself in the soft skills mirror, and now I am surer by myself. And my vision is more...

  • Me too uploaded to Padlet! :-))

  • The most difficult part of the skills audit was how to identify a part of the career as an evidence.
I discovered I was good at problem solving.
I need to develop digital literacy, global citizenship and innovation.
The most common credential I found a relationship with communication.

  • KFC’s #myplan approach is good of course, it is better than nothing. On my last job, I had anything one. But in reality, it was working only on the paper. Any career vacancies have filed by relatives or another unclean relationship. And it is a huge multinational company.

  • Part 2
    So what
    I do self-reflection;

- study languages (English, French);

    - reading philosophy;

- visiting a state philologist.

The vision is not clean for the moment.
    Now what

I think I will do the same job at another company. It’s not the best decision, but an acceptable one.
It needs to learn about new professions, to learn to code, to study...

  • Sometimes, a new idea has a deja vu effect. But, it’s not important for the moment.
    I have three simple questions:
    What?

    Education:
- Economic degree (26 years ago).

Experience :

    - a coding database (25 years ago);

- a marketing research (20 years ago);

- management by a department of a company and by a company on the security market (17 years...

  • The course «Becoming career smart» has filled me a lot of uncertainty. I want to believe that it will help me in the future, but my life experience is told me that it will useless. Useless, because some ideas may work in the West, but the same ideas become a problem on the East.
But, I will try to accept it, of course, as to try to play a new west game. So,...

  • @JeffreyJohnson Thank you for the comment! It was very helpful for me.

  • @RuthMoniqueWazob Good luck Ruth !

  • Yes! It's easy. Cut and paste!

  • It's like as a little bug.

  • Ok! Everything understood!

  • Hi Andrew
Thank you Andrew, for the support! These are really interesting points and I have not thought about this before.

  • Hi, I am Abay.
I am working in a department acceptance of goods about 9 years. I sorry to tell you, but I am going to leave the company. I want to find the more interesting job. I have an economics degree, experience in sales, even I had own business. Now, I study French and I want to improve it by working for a company, where I could to practise with it.

  • My first job was the greatest success.
I was an University graduate without experience and without ties.
And I could receive my first job in huge Russian bank.
The biggest challenge in reaching that was to make people believe you.
The factors that made this were my energy, almost unhealthy self-confidence, willingness to take on all.

  • The main points of these articles, videos and comments, as I have understood, for success is:
    - to have a type of entrepreneurial mindset.
    This is highly important.
But, then the 3 new main points:
    - giving (volunteering)
    - persistence
    - happiness
But, if I understood right, Benson said, that ¨ You have to be completely mad for flying on ballon or...

  • Thank you all for everything!
I hope we will continue together far away!
    Good luck!

  • I think the question: ¨..what would you do differently?¨ direct us to find some negative experience. Yes, there were many mistakes. But maybe not enough that I been proud of them. I want to be more open to new ideas, persons, experience, risks.

  • Bravo Kate! Your comment like my favourite French song "Non, je ne regrette rien"
(¨ No, I do not regret anything¨) by Edith Piaf.

  • I can't say that I had the same story, but I think my real problem is to be more open for others.

  • The presentation had been capitally prepared.
Preparing and repeat a presentation is always annoying. It is like a repetition in theatre.
I was surprised how many introverts here are, and Elon Musk too. Wow! I thought it's my little secret, what I am an introvert.
So, being an introvert is my advantage. I'm afraid, it's culture shock, for me, of...

  • The main thing for any communication is self-respect, then respect for a partner. If you respect yourself, your partner will listen to you. If you respect your partner, your partner will receive a signal that you listen and understand him.
If we understand each other, we are looking for a decision together.
I can't say if someone is more powerful, he...

  • Super! Small talk is one of the best methods to seek a common view on a problem.

  • About 1 month ago, when have to seek a new job I founded that my social profile was absolutely clean. I have repaired it, but only today I understand that too late. But the better late than never. So, each day I am correcting blanks of my history and write about the present and hope to see more interesting future.

  • Bravo @ShilpaV ! It was amazing!

  • I am really impressed by the comment. It's nothing to add.

  • I have a youtube channel, that has used for sharing video to my friends, relatives. I think about to do by it something profitable. I have looked at Google statistics on the application, but I have no idea what to do with it.

I think GDPR is a good idea.
I am in Russia, it is not in EU, and yes, of course, we have anything equivalent in my country.

  • Wow! Many of us have a LinkedIn account. I have too, but it’s not enough ready for a talk.
I am highly impressed by the video, and I think the new version of world with social networks gives for all of us a good chance to find your best way in the life.
There’s only the one reason why we don’t support it.

  • My profession is a salesman.
The first thing that I have done to further develop my transferable skills related to my profession is self-management.
When I can do what I have planned to do I will do all the other.
    These are :
    1. communication,
    2. digital literacy,
    3. critical thinking,.
    4. problem solving,
    5. teamwork,
    6. professional ethics,

  • ''Communication is most important'' - say many of us. Maybe. I am not ''Master of communication'', so I am sorry. But that sounds like a new version of religion, a psychological therapy for the people. Does anyone like entrepreneurship?

    Hi everyone!
By force of habit, I follow of all team of educators. It will be fine to follow Professor David Sousa-Rodrigues and Mis. Mathilde Louçä too.
Of course, if it is possible. I am sorry if it is something wrong.

  • Hi!
Big data is a big trend in social life, and Google analytics is one of the other instruments that allow to research and understand it.
In this course, I am expecting to find answers about how Google analytics can be used in the web using. I will not increase me the expectations. We'll see what happens at the end of the course.

  • The only credential for me is English learning for not English speaking. But all of other from MOOS are like troubles from a comedy ''The Internship'' about two guys, who are trying to find a job on Google because I am also a salesman.

  • Now, the most in demand skills in the workplace are:
    1) problem-solving,
    2) creativity,
    3) communication,
    4) team working
But you have to be ready to model any new skills, that aren't now.

  • I was someone who prefers to work in a cubicle and 9–6 pm (because I live in Russia).
But now, I am in a situation without any job, so I think (only think) could be I an entrepreneur? The freedom to choose how will I work isn't interesting to me.
    Any job is a job.
The words about wasting time and life sound nicely, but here I don't feel sentimental.

  • Thank you for the comment. My wife sais me the same. She is listening to me about hard and soft skills. When a commercial bank, where she is working about 25 years, is looking for someone, hard skills have a priority.

  • So, I read I lot of comments here, and I was really surprised by an interesting idea that the most important skills in the 21 century are some soft skills. Not hard skills, like knowing how to repair something, or how coding in IT, or how to clean something.
I found some TED video on youtube about it, and it is really amazing.
    One of these - communication...

  • @LosanaVouvouVola It is a very interesting idea. I couldn't expect here, where IT domination in life seems would be timeless.

  • This is my first time at Deakin and third at Futurelearn, and I see an approach to an education a bit different than others. I welcome the approach, think every one of us could help other. I have read 66 comments here, and I found myself among friends.

  • Hi everyone!
I live in Russia. I could not definitely explain why I am here. I love literature, but I couldn’t to force myself to write something. For me, at first, it’s nice practice in English, because it isn’t my native language. At second, I suppose our newborn society would be help to me and to other members of the specific writing club to break fears...

  • I need to train the perception of English language.

  • There was awfully interesting!
Could I improve my listening, if I would practice the intonation of the lady from train station?

  • Thank you, Rob! Thank you, Neeraj!
It is not bad way to practice listening throw British humor!

  • The tips are rather good.
But when I am listening something, I am doubted is my vocabulary enough or isn't?
Because I usually decide that isn't enough, I lost my interest to this.
And again and again I start learning words.
I feel there are some other ways or tips.

  • It was very amazing test! Of course I didn't pass it, but maybe I find out a direction what I have to do.

  • Thank you for the great tips!

  • Firstly, because I am writing I will use the following discourse markers: firstly, in addition, moreover, on the other hand, secondly, in conclusion, on the one hand, to begin with, thirdly, in sum.
Secondly, Jody and Nancy used a range of spoken discourse markers. There are more different prases for speaking: anyway, like, right you know, fine, now, so, I...

  • As I see, part 2 is the simplest little piece of IELTS. The main point is you have had more practice: speaking and writing. Write here 1200 characters a day, if you couldn't find a partner, and your skills will amaze us.
Both young ladies speak well, maybe not perfect.

  • Hi everyone!
Living in modern Moscow, I suppose, isn't strong different from living in London. But, I haven't been in London. On a family celebration, moscovitans invite their relatives and close friends. How many persons are there, as usual?...

  • Thanks a lot for this really interesting listening test!
I can't say that is fun, but it was rather useful for me.
So, I have to improve my listening skills.
