  • Lol, same.

  • One of my favorite poets: love her. She has had a great influence on me.

  • Very true. It’s hard to get what the graph represents. @MichaelReynolds

  • The mainstream adoption of blockchain will definitely have a profound impact of omni channel supply chain, thereby again pioneering a new business model.

  • @ThuAnhPham Woah, thrilled! And looking forward excitedly to attending this course. Cheers!

  • One of the problems that I would like to address is that holding the politicians of my country accountable, exposing them, and making them admit what issues they create for society at large. The Indian regime is propagating hatred and disinformation and radicalising the youths here at an unprecedented level. They are coming up with laws and policies that...

  • If I am not wrong, then I suppose this is what his theory basically means. That when there’s a long term relationship investment between both parties in the business, then it simply leads to reciprocal return and this reciprocal return then leads to price negotiations, i.e. sometimes a customer can demand a price reduction from its service supplier and vice...

  • Could anyone kindly explain what joint productivity is ?

Another very insightful course by the uni of Reading. Loved it.

I would now expect an “advanced version” of this writing course, lol, from this university because all the English courses from uni of Reading I have attended on FutureLearn are simply awesome. The way they breakdown and explain things is something another level thing. I truly appreciate the...

  • There are some reasons of water privatisation. Firstly, the public sector could not commit to maintain the water provision infrastructure due to lack of investment, leading to inefficiencies like leakage, billing, and payment issues.
Another cause is that the world bank demanded structural adjustments from the public sector. They required some reforms as a...

  • I see what you mean. Thanks for your explanation.

Could anyone explain me when in case of renting out our apartment for five years for 10,000 euro per year and the total sum is paid at the end of each year, why is the present value of the amount 50,000 euro different when we are directly applying the present value formula instead of calculating it and adding separately? (That is the amount comes as 39,184...

  • That was very clear. Thank you for explaining!

  • Could anyone explain me what relationship costs mean?

  • Is it only me who thinks the professor gets too much abstract that it’s hard to get it? I mean, as I am a business student, I can get the gist of the professor’s lectures. But I am imagining if one’s quite new in this area of marketing, it won’t be possible for them to make sense of the professor’s talk. The course could have been much more realistic by...

  • This is a quite interesting perspective to service management.

  • Interesting how the Cadbury family started their brand and saw it as a medium to serve the society by offering to eliminate the societal ills prevailing at that time. And Quakerism played a huge influential role in their business. I think if we adopt the ideas of Quakerism the modern day societal and economics ills can be solved: after all it all boils to...

  • 3.0 CONCLUSION

The findings of this report indicate
Alympos has a few issues concerning its food choice, service quality, and its atmosphere. A whole range of food, pleasant service and cordial atmosphere are what matters to the customers, tourists, and the staff of the restaurant.

  • That’s a good topic to practice.

  • Mind telling me how was it biased? @AnamarijaMarinovic

  • The mainstream media is indeed just great at brainwashing people. Instead of educating people about stereotypes that prevail against a minority group, the media simply chooses to incite hatred to gain TRP. In India, the mainstream media is backed by the state and almost everyday engages in propagating violence against minorities by depicting them in negative...

  • I agree with the video that how disinformation works. But we should also be really talking about holding the political regimes and news outlets accountable because more often than not they are the ones who resort to all kinds of nefarious moves to their advantages. We should be making them spit out the truth and make them accept that “yes, we’re the ones who...

  • I’d say I’m almost overwhelmed everyday with disinformation in my life. Seems like disinformation and misinformation are the new norms: they are just a part of our everyday lives. I come from India. And I have to say that India just runs on disinformation. There are state backed media outlets that are just 24 x 7 totally engaged in propagating disinformation,...

  • Thanks!

  • Makes good sense. Thank you!

  • There are many learners here from all around the world. They are mostly from Asian continent.
There are many reasons why one should take this online writing course. Firstly, to gain the essential skills to write well. Secondly, to critically analyse information and present it in a clear way.

  • Discuss the reasons why English is an important language to learn in this modern era.

I have chosen this topic because we’re all here to focus on our English. So I think it’s an interesting food for thought if people come up with their own ideas and knowledge.

  • The quality of life has improved dramatically in India ever since it opened it economy to the world. Large number of MNCs got established, thus creating job opportunities. The competition from the foreign firms offered a range of options of different products for Indian consumers. Therefore, it created a lot of value for the customers, resulting in better...

  • Though the quality of life has improved to a certain extent, we still have a long way to go. India has managed to transform itself from a completely agriculture based economy to industrial based economy and is still advancing on this path. The quality of life has improved relatively. However, there are yet many challenges that obstruct the path of development...

  • I’m also having similar thoughts in my mind. Some of the stuff here is a bit weird.

  • Vague explanation, not really easy to follow

  • Same.

  • Could anyone explain what the fundamental constants of universe are in layman terms?

  • Fair enough

  • But I have a question: doesn’t speeding really save time? Like if we see and compare travelling at 10 km/h to travelling at 100 km/h, doesn’t it make a huge difference?

  • At the heart of discrimination is certain prejudices formed against a specific person, group, or community. But instead of addressing these issues, instead of educating people and spreading awareness to eliminate discrimination, the ruling elites so called the saviour of people, love to build on this to manipulate people and rule at this cost. I believe...

  • Hi,
Sarosh here from India. Ever since I became politically conscious, I have always been worried about the human rights abuses by the various political regimes throughout the world, especially in my country. There definitely needs a lot to be done. However, I’m afraid that rarely are the perpetrators hold accountable to their human rights abuse and the...

  • @NoelyneLevin lol, same, tbh.

  • I think, from what I could interpret, it talks about human relationships. That once they get bonded, it hurts to get separated, maybe when the other one dies. That’s one possible interpretation.

  • Poetry is more than ideas and messages. The way it communicates the reader with its inventive use of language is something to ponder upon. It’s about transporting someone to experience something that you may not experience in your own life. It’s about making you feel a particular way. It’s about putting oneself in someone’s else shoes and get lost in it to...

  • Economic
Preserving resources for the future generation
    Caring for the ecosystem

  • Very true.

  • One of the changes I’d say is the ruling regimes should completely subsidise electric cars, like Norway did. We also gotta step up and take the responsibility of planting more and more and not letting the corporates to exploit resources at the cost of environment. We also gotta hold the regimes accountable. For eg, in India, lately there has been a new draft...

  • My country India isn’t faring well. The utopian dream of achieving the sustainable development goals by 2030 doesn’t really seem to be realistic. The ruling elites are just ruling the world at our cost. I might seem to be negative, but it’s just I’m just highly suspicious of all these regimes and organisations. There are a ton of human rights abuses everyday....

  • Thank you, everyone.

  • The policymakers don’t like to be questioned.

  • I think social progress index is a quite good way of measuring social well being of a society. But I’d also like it to involve access to employment opportunities and healthy work environment that the firms create in a country. For eg. India boasts its GDP and yet it has not got any good employment opportunities for its citizens. Plus, I was just checking the...

  • “The default should be that you have to take action to stop investing, rather than having to take action to invest.”

I didn’t get this last point.
Would anyone be kind enough to explain me?

  • Thank you!

  • I’m afraid I didn’t get the difference between flows, which are income and costs, and cash flows, which are cash inflows and cash outflows. Would anyone be kind enough to explain me?

  • I didn’t get what these paragraphs mean? Like in the first para it talks about 921,600 features. What does this mean? And in the Second paragraph it talks about turning 921,600 pixel values into 51. Again what does this mean?
Would anyone be kind enough to explain me?

  • “As a general rule of thumb in machine learning, the greater the possible variation in each example, the more data you need to provide in order for your model to learn to distinguish classes well. For a fairly low resolution colour image of 640 x 480 pixels, with red, green and blue values for each of them, we have 921,600 features. If we’re working with...

  • Lol, this was interesting.

  • Thank you

  • Could you explain to me why would a stratified sample would yield a sample with a 2 in 3 female?

  • That was well explained. Thank you.

  • Could anyone tell me how if you have a list of 10,000 members of your target population, and you randomly draw 500 people for an interview, each member of the population has a 5% chance of being selected for the survey sample?

  • I didn’t get the various categories under the Hispanic , Latino, or Spanish origin, in the infographic. Why would the respondents under the Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish ethnic indentify themselves with the various other categories like White, Black or African American, Asian, American India or Alaska Native, etc.?

  • I would like to know the degree of trust the mass in general puts in their leaders and politicians. So, maybe we can categorise the mass on the basis of their age, profession, and gender.

  • Lol, I’m not surprised by these techniques that biased media outlets incorporate to manipulate the mass in general: being as much vague as possible, taking things out of context, presenting their news with limited context or information and oversimplifying things and then publishing them all.

  • Isn’t the formula for Q1 is n + 1 th/4?

  • And when she gathers the required data, she might begin working on it, based on how things turn out.

  • One problem of solving Aisha’s delivery issue can be providing the customers with feedback forms and gather some data about the attitude of the employee if she wants to test his delivery person’s attitude.

  • That’s a good interpretation.

  • Definitely something to think about

  • As Tariq, I want to make sure that my charger is put at/in a convenient place for me to find it easily so that I can ensure that my phone is charged and this will lead to alarm go off on time. How might we help Tariq find his charger quickly?

For this, we might help Tariq find a dedicated spot to help him remember where his charger is always supposed to...

  • Given the limited information, I think interview, observation - observing Tariq on his user journey, a bit intrusive thing though, and ussr journey maps would do work for Tariq’s case.

  • * Why do you think staying open and empathetic makes for better designs?
Staying open and empathetic makes for better designs because we are trying to design for our end users, not ourselves, so we gotta understand them.

    * Based on what Cat says, what role do you think our assumptions play in our design decisions?
    Our assumptions inhibits our thought...

  • The problem with Samaritans’ app might have been that they didn’t consider the behaviours, needs, and desires of their target audience. Their product was designed without any human centred design approach.
And if they had put their target audience at the heart of their product, they would have avoided this problem.

  • I picked up The Tables Turned by William Wordsworth.

    “Up! up! my Friend, and quit your books;
    Or surely you'll grow double:”

It captured my attention as it talks about nature.

  • Schadenfreude: I came across this lately and love the way it sounds.

  • Hello, beautiful people
I recently enrolled in a lovely online course here on Future Learn called “unseen poetry and the creative writing,” which inspired me to think like a poet. I loved that course. So, I’m looking forward to learning more about poetry and growing with you all.

  • It has been an absolutely wonderful journey. Loved it! I’d like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the poet Kate Clancy, who unleashed and brought the poetic “me” to life and who inspired me throughout the whole course. I’d also like to thank the lead educator, the assistant educator, and the students of this beautiful course. I’m truly grateful for your...

  • This is interesting. I also see myself as a social and political analyst although I didn’t major in it. It just sparks my interest, considering the current affairs around the world. So, in order to get a more clearer picture from the data that I cone across, I finally decided to equip myself with these data skills.

  • Could anyone help me with work packages? Like what exactly they are?

  • What does “team dynamics” mean?

  • Well said, mate.

  • But when the bank became bankrupt, how come they received the a large sum of bonuses?

  • This is indeed an interpersonal misbehaviour as the group head is trying to criticise his employees with his holier than thou attitude and yet he never attends the meeting . Moreover, there’s lack of rationale for conducting this meeting. So, this all doesn’t make sense at all. Just a waste of time leading to employees being frustrated.

  • In my opinion, it was the best thing to do because we can’t kill people just for the sake of a organisation. It might be termed as “misbehaviour” from the organisation’s perspective, but such issues are really something to be concerned for. No corporation should put a society in danger.
