I really enjoyed this course, very informative and very well presented. It motivates to go deeper in learning more.

  • As per my experience, we used digital tools because upper management wanted to see what was being done in every sprint, user stories, backlog, etc. Sticky notes were very useful at the beginning of the projects, just to have a measure of the number of tasks that we would develop further.

  • Help teams better with this framework

  • Yes, I find that very interesting as well, because they are portrayed as doing a task (arranging the robes, bringing the pheasants, serving beverages...) and always of lower stature or croached on themselves.

People of wealth that wanted family portraits, never invested in adding their servants / workers in the paintings. The exceptions could be that the...

  • I just like to know more about history, because what we are taucht in schools represents one side of the coin only.

  • Hi, I am Ester from Barcelona in Scotland. This course is a good certification for my current studies in Data Analytics.

  • I am very curious about flexagons and I just wanted to know more

  • 3. Target Audience: as everybody can obtain the certifications of the training, I will segment it using the Facebook page of the organisation and also LinkedIn. Twitter can also be used.
    4. Content: The Facebook page will show information about the charity, the courses available, dates, contact data, a link to the website of the charity, etc. In LinkedIn it...

    1. To promote awareness of free Tech courses with Code Division, a charity that offers IT and Data Analysis training.
    2. This awareness would be defined by finding enough students to fill in all courses for the next period.

  • yes, I agree that the backslash has to be used, as well as Open New Project and choose a directory where you have your csv already there, otherwise it does not work.

  • I agree with the comments below. In my experience working with projects, communications between the parts involved is crucial for the success of the project. Unfortunately I had the bad experience of working with project managers that wanted people to read their minds and that is not good for the management of the project.

  • Maybe this is not a commentary for this section, but I wanted to talk about Gulliver's Travels and how its adaptation to children made it loose its intention and content.
I have seen lots of comments regarding Gulliver's Travels as a children's book. The author's intention, is said, was to write a satirical about books of travels and human nature:
    - how you...

  • Hi, I am Ester and I work with projects and data analysis. This course will be very useful for my development.

With Amy. Supposing that I want to begin a new campaign, I will use SEO in the first place to see how young female professionals see ASDA. Then I will use Banner advertising to inform (in general) about the new campaign (price offers for females and for young professionals). Later on and depending on the effectiveness of the banner , I will begin with PPC with...

  • @FlorianB I agree, I have no idea what a resource means in this context.

  • Regarding question 2, I am not sure that Natural Language Processing is a function or technique of machine learning...

Very useful and practical advice. Thank you very much for this course.

  • For me a process & data processing would be nice

  • I totally agree with you, in the fact that I have lived similar situations in office jobs. I love to design and implement macros with VB. The outcome is always the same: managers made me redundant because they think that the macros do half of the tasks and the rest can be split with the rest of the team. Then something goes wrong, the macros can no longer be...

  • I disagree with you both. I have been using it as well and it does not pick up the misspellings (I lost so many lives to them...)

  • @TYRONDEVILLIERS There is a series in Netflix called "Humans" with a different twist to the use of AI in androids. Being so expensive to manufacture and repair, they will be the managers (they are better suited to compile and collect the high amount of information needed to take decisions), while humans are easily reparable and can multiply very easily (no...

  • Apologies for this, when I arrived to 1.12 I was able to follow up the instructions on how to work with images from the computer. My tables were classified as chairs!!

  • It looks like this exercise has worked for everybody... except me. I uploaded some pictures of furniture, to distinguish between chairs and tables, but the second pages does not load, so I am unable to choose images individually and see what happens. Apologies about this.

  • This article is a good example of what happens when banks focus in profit more than in risk... (Spanish case ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008%E2%80%932014_Spanish_financial_crisis

  • I agree with your statement and furthermore, I believe that banks are not necessary for individuals and small investors.
Nowadays, there are cultures in which big families put all the money they have together in a single bank account and they give it to new couples to buy flats or to invest in their future in small business. Of course, the couples give back...

  • Hi, I am Ester. I work as a project coordinator and one of our tasks is to manage risk in projects, being those financial or of any other kind. I hope to learn more about risk with this course.

  • That looks very interesting, thanks very much Áine

  • Hi Áine, In my case, I am very interested in using the relations you mentioned from the sessions to do graph analysis and see how the people of the kirks were connected.

  • Hi Dominic, and also, how could they live during a year without being paid? did they had other incomes and from where?

  • I provide an example of each, however I have to work further with the examples, as not all of them can be SMART (or the descriptions will be very long). The professional ethics is very difficult to explain or to extract examples, so I put it at Entry level. Critical thinking and EI need improvement.

  • Thank you very much for this. I have so much in my cv that this will help me to synthetize all points it and specify it as needed.

  • Working from home was one of my preferred things, as it is more comfortable and leaves more flexibility if someone comes for repairs, etc, however companies were very reluctant to leave people do it, even if all the tasks were possible to be completed in other places than the office. Now I am very happy, as I work from home all day.

  • @MirlindMurati Hi MIrling, you need to load two files, the event log and the process model generated at the beginning (they need to be imported at first, and then they both need to be loaded for the algorithm run). With the two of them on the left hand side of the screen, just click in the event log, so it is shown highlighted, while the process model is not....

  • Hi, I agree that this man is a very good communicator. I was not aware of the importance of networking in general, even if everybody says so. Ho he uses it is astonishing.
It is inevitable that also within a pandemic, networking will be the most important way of communication in the future. This is a good point that I have to improve myself.

  • In order to be a data analysis, creativity and problem solving are very important, so I always tried to improve processes in the companies I worked for (mostly with macros, programming, etc and giving ideas). That has helped me at the same time that the companies were benefited.

  • I have been focusing in obtaining certifications in several fields related to data analysis, in order to move to this type of job (that I enjoy the most). Now I have lots of certifications, however I am unsure if to put a list in LinkedIn would be good or not, as some companies believe that the more you have, the more you want to earn and they are do not want...

  • I like problem solving and creativity, however the majority of jobs available are very monotonous, with processes that follow strict rules and do not leave space. Definitely not my thing, however I need the money.

  • Due to the pandemic, lot of people have to work in a digital way. So I guess, the main things would be team working, problem solving, communication.

  • I agree. I am very lucky of working (since not log ago) after finishing my contract during the pandemic, even if it is not my type of job. I only hope that this is not used as an excuse by companies for "lack of experience" and not let me come back to what I like.

  • In my case, develop my EI further and look into my online presence.

  • For me
    - the bag of seeds: to try to cultivate something if I stay for a long time in the island.
    - the bucket: with it I can pick up the rain (for the drinkable water) and use it as a cooking pot or to carry stuff
    - the knife: to help me build a hut, cut fruits, hunt...

Apart from this, I have worked in teams for a long time, with people located in...

My roles in teams have always been the 3 showed in the People area plus the shaper (to develop processes, etc). I love those roles.

  • I believed it is a mixed type. Some people are outgoing and some not, others are analytical and others not... this has an effect on the emotions.

  • I would like to work with Nick, as misunderstandings will be easily avoided, while Sarah would not give clear instructions and things could be done in a different way as she intended.

  • just a quick question about the link to the article, which it does not work, do you have another link for the same, please?

  • Unfortunately in my previous experience I have not found any manager that would help with resilience. Just to tell you to go to a psychiatrist if you feel overwhelmed does not help much...

  • I need to be more concise.

  • Very nice example and very practical, thank you very much.

  • I do not like video interviews. I already done a couple and they are very difficult for me, as they were on a limited time. The interview needs to be very specific, very to the point, which is complicated for me.

  • In my case, I like a type of job based in projects. All online advertisements in all agencies that deal with them are basically the same, because (I guess) the tasks are the same across all companies. From time to time a different task is added, however it does not make a difference. They way all ads are written is always the same.

  • Hi, I am interested in history and the best way to do so is to go to the original texts, but... they are very difficult to read, hence this course.

  • I know Mind Tools for a long time. It lets you read 3 articles per month. In my case, I just got access to 2 and I will have to wait until April to read the other 2 or pay for a membership.

  • I have detected that I am very analytical and good at problem-solving, very conscientious and with high organisational skills. Not bad so far...

  • I think that if the person is an expert at that skill, it can be used as an strength in the CV

  • I think my anchors are perfect for working from home, as they give me the necessary autonomy, capability and technical ability, however the companies that I have found so far want to have more control over people and they do not rely on their workers.

  • I have several, so it is very difficult to prioritize for me.

  • I just use OneNote in my laptop. Evernote I believe requires payment, but I am not sure.

  • I agree, I also voted for problem solving as it is pivotal to the other skills

  • Thank you very much for the feedback received. It is true that I have not been able to specify how to implement the necessary changes, however I honestly do not know how. In this case, I believe a chat with HR would be useful, but who knows...

  • I found this course very useful and it has helped me to understand some situations that I have seen / lived. Thank you very much.

  • Hi, I have seen that as well. The whole department was kind of divided in two, the ones "friends" of the manager and the ones not. Of course, jealousy, gossip, etc appeared and nobody helped anybody anymore. Very toxic indeed.

  • I agree. This type of misbehaviour is not intentional, otherwise it could be classified as fraud or similar (when talking about quality of work). In relation to absenteeism, I am tired of seeing colleagues pushed towards their edge and being burned out, so they have to take leaves. I still do not understand why managers do that.

  • One thing of workaholism is that companies take advantage of it. If the person is suffering an addiction or similar, they do not care because the person will put extra hours like a machine for days on without asking for a reward or a thank you. That affects the office colleagues, as they are seen as not motivated or engaged enough with the company or not...

  • I agree with you. Even if as per the definition, this would be a bad behaviour against the company, it is not when taking the greater good into consideration.

  • Situations like this have happened to me when going shopping. The product I am looking for is no longer manufactured, so I must buy something for the shop, only to discover later that it is still on sale but in other shops. Of course, I do not come back to that shop never ever and they loose a customer...

  • In my experience, what I have seen of managers is that they control what the subordinates do, delegate some tasks and make reports... and have lots of meetings. The articles are eye openers, as managers seem to do more than one can see...

  • As an employee, a figurehead has no use, because it does not have the power to resolve issues that the employee highlights and it makes even necessary to go to the manager above the figurehead. This is not advisable, as it would diminish more the power of the figurehead, but then... what to do?

  • Thinking about past jobs, all were based in the classical method, as management usually believes is the best way to control (not manage) the teams. Only once I had the opportunity to work in a human relations based organizational behaviour and it was really good, very motivating and engaging. I miss it.

  • I agree with my colleagues below, that people make the place. The prove is when there is a manager with a toxic personality and how fast the turnover increases and /or the department is destroyed.

  • The situation I explained affects a whole department, in which new staff are not treated well, things are not explained, every minutia is treated as a failure and everything is very negative. Apart from the heavy workload and lack of time to adapt to the new culture. It is difficult to resolve this situation, unless all current staff collaborates.

  • I need more information to be able to answer this. PALIA seems quite efficient, however maybe knowing more of this system would be useful.

  • Yes, that also happened in my last company. And the people that are not communicating are still working there... it is very annoying...

  • For me, I will begin with the leader, as he/she is the one that marks the pace of the team from the beginning. The conformers and colluders follow with the situation given by the leader.

  • For question 1 of the quiz, I have been able to find the ‘events per case’ chart, as both charts seem to me to be general ones. Is there a link somewhere where I can found it? Thanks

  • In my opinion, Cynthia needs to separate work from family and focus on both at their allotted time without mixing them, otherwise she would not be able to focus when she needs it.

Jeffrey thinks that everybody should do the same as he does and think the same as him. In this case I would advise for him to accept the fact that everybody is different and his...

  • Hi Janet, I agree with you as well. In my working experience, it is very typical that managers try to put employees in stress situations, in order to obtain better efficiencies. What happens in reality, is totally the contrary, because employees are burned out, efficiencies decrease, and on top of that, the employee is marked as useless and bad worker.
    I hope...

  • Process mining is very interesting and I will look for information on the algorithms and more practice with the definitions given in the course. Thanks very much.

  • If we had the social part in the traffic file, it would be very possible that the appeal part would be much longer... but not necessarily affecting the initial part of the process (until the appeal part)

  • I discovered that the main bottlenecks are at the end of the main process, where the appeal has to be notified to the person (4.28 months). In general, all the appeal process takes around half of the complete time of a normal process.

  • I would use the Heuristics, because it includes the options of checking filters by events and traces.

  • Hi, do you have an account in Padlet? This is the usual place where Future Learn courses have their exercises posted. Thanks.

  • I would like to know how to better identify my triggers and emotions. This will be very useful in the future as it will improve my awareness of the emotions of others.

  • For me the best was option 3, because knowing the emotions of the team helps with motivation, workload assignment, happiness, etc and in the end, with better results and decisions.

  • For assertiveness and in my experience, I saw that an impulsive person always brings problems to the team because the passionate efforts are understood as conflicts against the provided status-quo. I totally agree with the rest.

  • For me the mixed one. the more variables that enter in the study, the better to make relations between them and understand what affects what else.

  • For what I could see, on one hand, this person would be very good at managing his stress and be very communicative with the team (assertive and good at relationships). On the other hand, he is very impulsive and does not know how to manage his emotions properly, which could give problems.

  • Thanks very much, Sam, the link provided with the material does not work.

  • Resolved, thanks.

  • I tried again, and maybe I have a different log. Thanks very much.

  • In the previous quiz, when I import the file, there is no option of "Replay the log in a fresh Petri Net for Conformance Analysis". It is greyed out.
There is also no option for "Mine Petri Net with Inductive Miner". Is the pnml the correct file to use in the exercise? Thanks.

  • I prefer the use of logic, because I find emotions to be very subjective and they can be use to manipulate others. With logic I find that there is no manipulation, but just the facts.

  • I usually take notes of all courses and training I do in OneNote or Word or Excel. I am afraid no emotions in those notes...

  • Very nice week, with lots of learning. I enjoyed it very much.
On the other hand, I continue not founding the Heuristic Miner. In the test I had to use the BPMN, which gave me an answer that is totally different from question 6.

  • I see, so the Inductive Miner has joined the two activities at the start, showing only one of them, in this case the "Analyze Defect".
    Thanks for your clarification.

  • In the previous exercise, there is no "register" activity at the beginning, but an "Analyze Defect". Are we talking about the same file?

  • Maybe how to order all the activities in a way that makes sense; how many activities have how many inputs and outputs, etc

  • Thanks very much

  • I find confusing the term "local machine", because it does not relate to my current laptop, but the virtual machine. I am also learning more about moving files inside the virtual machine, that it may seem easy, but in reality it is not :). I love the practice.

  • maybe in clinical histories?
