  • Excellent!

  • Very nice explanation.

  • Thank you very much for this wonderful presentation.

  • Done.

  • I want to be able to explain grammar clearly for my students.

  • I'm from Bangladesh. I'm a teacher. I have studied grammar and I should teach my students now. I expect that the course can give me the updated analysis of English grammar. I could tell the others about the knowledge of grammar that I will acquire from this course.

  • I am doing this course to improve my writing in work and research. I am looking forward to developing my understanding.

  • I hope that by the end of this course I will be able to acquire online teaching skills and knowledge to run an online session better. It is difficult to manage the class in online sessions because students get easily distracted and lose their attention. So, I want to learn how to overcome those challenges in my online teachings.

  • Hello everyone, I am so happy I have enrolled. I am an online teacher from Bangladesh.

  • The most useful aspect of this week was investigating what schooling is and the different way different countries conduct schooling. Also to start building up a portfolio of the skills and attributes that are required for teaching to establish if this is the right career choice.

  • As with a lot of the comments here I think one of the main misconceptions about teaching is the long holidays and time off. Once you step back and consider it though the term after that holiday will be relentless, and ultimately the work put in over that holiday by the teacher will be reflected in the quality of the lessons that follow.

  • The most engaging part of this course for me is thinking about how teaching can shape someone's life and beginning to tap into why I want to become a teacher. I have enjoyed listening to the experiences of others and reflecting on my own skills and experiences.

  • It is important to try and gain some experience to see if it's something we enjoy in the long run and could be a carer. Potentially starting with some volunteering work and then slowly moving into a teaching role. Asking other people what it is like and what they enjoy the most is also very important. Along with asking feedback about yourself and if they see...

  • I like to think of myself as a very easily likeable person, value and respect others opinions and differences. I love to listen and lend a hand whenever/however I can.

I love working in a team as well as taking initiative to do what needs to be done.

My passion for early learning and teaching young children through play is a very new but exciting venture...

  • I like Amy's experience because when a teacher has positive experiences with students, it is a motivation that helps us want to learn more about this profession. It is good to continue growing as teachers to learn more about our students.

  • I completed my graduation & postgraduation in English. Si I have a passion for Language and Literature. I’m hoping to become a secondary level teacher through, teaching a wide range of subjects and helping students find their passion.

  • I have been exploring teaching English as a second language at the moment as went through that experience myself. I'd like to teach kids first and potentially adults.

  • The purpose of schooling is to aid the development of an individual, through socialization, scaffolding their education and supporting their realization of their talents and self-worth. Preparing them academically and psychologically to cope with later life.

  • I have really enjoyed reading your posts here. I think that the majority of you think that age doesn't matter, many comments suggest that it is more important to think about the individual's level of maturity. One's maturity is not necessarily linked to age as pointed out in some of the posts.

I don' t think that age matters, I would agree that it is more...

  • I am of the view that gender is not a determinant of a good teacher.

A good teacher can be of any gender, just as a good student can be of any gender.

The potential to demonstrate skills, ability, and knowledge as regards teaching is not measured by gender.

For instance, as a parent, one's children could put this to the test.

    Sometimes a child...

  • The classroom in Morocco was the one which stood out to me. There was plenty of space for the teacher to move around the room to interact with the children, the double desks allow for group work, the room is decorated in a very age-appropriate way and the large windows allow for it to be light. This spacious and inviting environment feels like it is well set...

  • While I was surprised to see a class this big I do believe that you need to try innovative approaches in order to progress, but of course not all will work. My concern is similar to a few comments below that quieter children could get lost in such a large class. Being quiet and shy myself at school I believe I would have found it easier to hide in such a class...

  • My name is Obidul Hoque and I am from Bangladesh. I have been teaching since 5 years in BBangladesh and I feel much more comfortable in teaching ssecondary section. I have selected teaching as my profession because this is my passion. I receive much more love from my students and colleagues that motivated me to do something extra and to teach something new to...

  • This is great to hear. Glad to know that persons with different backgrounds can be great teachers and make a real difference to their students!

  • It is nice to know that even though you started your studies with a different career in mind, you were able to enter teaching
    successfully.

  • I'm Assistant Teacher in English at a secondary school. I have a BA and MA in English.

I'm hoping this course will help me understand the broader spectrum of what comes in a teaching role, whilst also confirming that teaching would be right for me as a career.

    Thanks!

  • I am highly delighted to start this course.

  • Thank you for the insights and take aways!

  • A new browser that automatically loads a compressed/low-resolution version of a website's contents (including videos and photos) when a poor internet connection is detected.

  • Thank you for both parts of this section. I like the practical advice you suggest to make sure that the digital products that we create serves the learners and ensure effective teaching and learning

  • Empathy is a critical attribute to have to be successful in life. We are all too quick to accuse before we find out the why. For example, a student who frequently does not submit their homework, what question do you ask? "it seems like there is something preventing you from getting your homework done" work be the approach I take. You may be surprised by the...

  • While I haven't experienced what Jack does, I too agree that the system needs to be changed. We need to test a fish's ability to swim and a monkey's to climb, not the other way around :)

  • For me we should start to educate the next generation about depression, anxiety , body shame, and how to deal whit it !

  • How to ask questions

    How to find answers

    How to compare answers

    How to solve a problem

    How to communicate.

  • 1. Knowing why we learn what we learn, and where it can be used in real life, is in my opinion a huge plus while learning. It helps me understand better, especially from the POV of the applications.

    2. Highs - figuring out that something that I had learnt when I was younger was actually useful in real life. Lows - realising something that I had spent hours...

I believe the main barriers are in the form of money, gender and infrastructure. The divide is being reduced as more and more technology becomes cheaper and more widespread, while it is also increased as the cutting edge often leaves the 'last billion' seriously lagging behind.

  • I read "Can digital technologies really be used to reduce inequalities?". It highlights that as technology advances, it remains out of reach of many, which increases the gap between those with tech and those without it. Yes, technology can be used as a tool to improve education and therefore, reduce inequality but I agree that while designing tech the interest...

  • Obviously SDG are formed intend to develop humanity in a sustainable way for the better future and we need to collaborate with each other to reach those goals before too late.

All the 17 goals are important if I have to choose hunger, poverty and climate change would be my priorities.

  • Having a cell phone to access the internet and having access to education is better than having nothing, but we know that it is not the best. Disadvantaged people should have access to goods such as computers for better education. Then, Equity would make all the difference.

  • I think socio-economic differences, gender and access are the most salient factors that cause inequality. But I think these are factors that affect one another and then, in turn, affect education. It's a little bit of a vicious circle and that's why it is so hard to solve. At the heart of it is usually inefficient government.

    I reckon the problem we're...

  • Coming from a poor background and having to work after school to pay the school fee greatly disadvantages the student. They are tired at school, have lesser time for study and play, and are also often more stressed, as they need to provide for their family. This can lead to the student dropping out early, or not understanding all the concepts properly due to a...

  • Education for all: This section focused on Education for All, the impact of globalisation on education, the policies made by countries to equip their population with the skills needed to thrive in the global market. It also explored the views and roles of the World Bank in spreading education, and of how almost every uneducated population wants their children...

  • The desired result of globalization for most people is one in which the global environment, society and economic system develops sustainably, and all domestic environments improve including the welfare of all nations.

  • Almost every product I use in daily life is the result of the work done by people from around the globe. Globalisation has helped make the world a 'village' where we get to interact with everyone. I cannot imagine how life would be had it not been for print, the engine and medicine.

  • Some important competencies to succeed in today's world are social skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to think outside the box.

Very excited to see where this is going.

  • Radical reimagining was my favourite part. I really liked the what ifs activity as it allowed me to imagine the education system that I want to see. Now its the journey of how to get there.

  • Thanks.

  • Caste and gender still plague the education system in some of the most backward places in the world, preventing the oppressed classes from getting the education they deserve. Bringing in laws, while effective, can only bring about so much change. We need to affect humans at their core; we need to instill in them a sense of equality and respect for everyone,...

  • I believe children should be exposed to holistic, student led learning in their youth, and integrate collaborative peer learning in their later years. This way, everyone has a solid foundation, and then students can interact with others from their own fields and interests to specialise in that field (while still growing holistically).

    Learning...

What if everyone had a curriculum specially designed for them?

What if education was about discovering, not passively receiving information?

What if education was where you could discover yourself more than anything else?

What if we had places where students could try anything consequence-free?

School was the most loveliest time in my life.

Education right now feels like the most interesting one.

I don’t want to learn bad habits.

I want more time to learn new things.

School was fun when we really enjoying it. Now, it is nothing, just meetings on platforms like zoom, google meet, etc., and nowadays learning is a bit boring as I am doing it...

  • I like these four pillars of radical reimaginnation. Creating/ Doing something innovative, out of box.

  • I'm fully supportive of these ideas. I work in education, but find the whole thing stifling for the young.

  • It’s never too late for young people to have opportunities to learn. Our youth deserve to be equipped with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly demanding and uncertain job world. Given that today’s students will be tomorrow’s citizens and leaders, a good and relevant education is essential to turn aspirations into reality.

  • Our surroundings and natures are the real teachers and through the understanding of real world,we can learn a lot of things.

But nowadays this pandemic made everyone to rethink thi way of evaluation and digital meeting platforms can make the process of learning together with peers a lot easier.

  • Our students follow us for a reason. They want to know what we think about your area of expertise. They want to learn from us and improve their own lives or skills in some way.

But not all the wisdom we share has to come straight from our own keyboard. We’re not the sole authority in our industry, and we shouldn’t pretend to be.

    When we carefully select...

  • 1. The best practices for making learning resources accessible and engaging is to make the online platform and bring all of the course in the world post on the online platform and make a student learn in their interested thing. But in my country the internet doesn't reach all areas, so may be we should solve the problems in internet to cover all areas and then...

  • I think I may have learned more through TV and internet (YouTube, moocs, etc.) than school or collage. I love lecturas from Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkings and DeGrass Tyson.

  • Classrooms in across the world have been flooded equipped with software, computers and high-speed internet. However, the technological disparity and literacy gap is increasing — and instructors often get caught in the middle of it.

  • Thanks
