Artificial Intelligence Ethics for Business

Examine the ethical issues in the application of autonomous algorithms, machine learning and intelligent agents.

Evaluate the social, legal and ethical dilemmas associated with artificial intelligence (AI)

This program aims to give you the opportunity to try to gain a comprehensive understanding of the social, ethical and legal issues in developing AI technologies and applications in business and management.

Upon successful completion, you should be equipped with the knowledge to mitigate risks that AI technologies may bring to business. Case studies will be used to attempt to enhance your understanding of AI in real-world business contexts.

Who will you learn with?

Dr Mark Elshaw is a lecturer and researcher at Coventry University. His teaching and research interesting include AI, neural network, AI ethics, biological inspired computing system.

PhD in Cybernetics from Reading University, Huma worked on the EU FP7 'RoboLaw' project and co-authored 'Turing's Imitation Game: Conversations with the Unknown' (Cambridge University Press, 2016).

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Critically describe and discuss the characteristics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on business, humans and society in the business context
  • Critically identify and evaluate the social, legal and ethical dilemmas associated with AI
  • Understand how AI and its technologies are applied ethically within a business context in support of business
