This program aims to develop your critical knowledge of automotive cyber security and the threats facing connected and autonomous vehicles.

It also addresses the wider challenge of increasing numbers of digital components on connected platforms, focusing specifically on threat intelligence and engineering aspects of automotive systems. Issues of policy and personal data are also explored.

You’ll investigate the fundamental concepts of cyber security, using presentations, group discussions and case studies to demonstrate real-life scenarios and illustrate how best to tackle complex problems.

  • Evaluate and situate these threats with respect to wider system risks, security and safety impact, and propose cost-effective countermeasures

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of economic, legal and regulatory issues surrounding security testing, compliance and certification

  • Demonstrate a systematic appreciation of privacy and policy issues surrounding the use of personal and sensitive data generated on modern automotive platforms in the context of sensing, communication, and storage
