The final assessment course enables you to revise, practice and then test the knowledge and skills you have gained in the Discovering Science program.
You will be registered as a student at the University of Leeds for the duration of the course. This will give you access to the University of Leeds Student Portal, and e-resources in the University Library and on the University website. You will not receive a student card and you will not be able to access any of the University of Leeds campus-based services.
Completing and passing the final assessment course will enable you to earn 10 credits from the University of Leeds.
Week 1: Introduction to the University of Leeds, academic writing and academic integrity. Prepare a self-assessed written report in English, assess your report against a model answer using marking criteria, share your experience with other learners and start your reflective log.
Week 2: Revision exercises and preparation of a written report for peer assessment. Peer assess another learner’s report against a model answer using marking criteria, receive peer feedback, share your experience with other learners and continue your reflective log.
Week 3: Revision exercises and preparation of a written report for the tutor marked assessment. Share your experience with other learners and complete your reflective log.
You will be expected to write a written report (1,200 words) in English and submit a reflective log (300 words) in English on how the practice and feedback provided during the course has helped you prepare the final written report.
You will only pass the course and earn 10 credits from the University of Leeds when you have passed the written assessments with a mark of 40% or over. For more information about academic credit, see our FAQs on credit.
