University of Newcastle Australia program

Europe and the World

This program, HIST1001, explores the history of European encounters with the wider world from 1492 to the present.

This program is part of the Bachelor of Arts degree offered by The University of Newcastle Australia

Develop your knowledge of European and global history.

The program enables you to explore the historical origins of Europe's role in world affairs today.

You'll be introduced to topics that have informed Europe's complex and often troubled interactions with the peoples and places beyond its borders. It investigates the people, events, myths, and ideas that have shaped European and world history. You'll also be supported in analysing historical accounts that reveal the perspectives of the coloniser and the colonised.
