Explore how to use information in order to make effective decisions

Successful decision-making is essential for modern managers. On successful completion of this program, you’ll develop a better understanding of how to efficiently collect and process data to provide factual information, which is the ‘life-blood’ of any organisation and vital in ensuring effective decision-making by management.

You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills in gathering, processing, storing, using and distributing information in organisations. You’ll have the chance to explore various approaches to the presentation of data for maximum effect and some of the techniques to manipulate and analyse data in order to produce information.

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Discuss and analyse sources of data and information within a range of organisational types
  • Describe levels, types, stages, and models of decision-making
  • Explain how information systems aid managerial decision-making at different levels of management
  • Discuss the importance of understanding the legal requirement, benefits and risks in holding and sharing information
  • Assess methods of implementation and communication within contemporary organisations
  • Reflect on and evaluate decision-making models and communication strategies used within a work environment, with regards to personal group activity
