Integrated Project – Construction

Analyse challenging construction project problems and propose solutions

The project calls for the application of your academic knowledge (gained during your master's level study and from your previous education), engineering judgement, professional skills and personal resourcefulness to analyse challenging problems from construction or related sectors, in a comprehensive manner, and propose well-justified and presented solutions to influence strategic decisions.

The project will involve group work, requiring a degree of original research and the integration of technical, economic, socio-political and interpersonal aspects of the project process.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate critical powers and the ability to integrate knowledge and skills from other studies and (where appropriate) from work experience/personal study to analyse construction problems in a comprehensive manner to influence strategic decisions

  • Make judgements about alternative solutions to realistic problems, and recommend a particular course of action by the presentation of supporting material in a professional manner

  • Demonstrate critical understanding of group-work processes and of original research, and of the integration of technical, economic, socio-political and interpersonal aspects of the project process

  • Demonstrate communication and presentational skills (written, verbal, presentation) at a level appropriate to the profession

  • Apply strategic management skills and principles through the use of appropriate case study scenarios
