Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. The principles of psychology are critical to a range of industries from counselling and teaching to human resource management and marketing. This program will introduce fascinating psychology theories and ask you to apply them to issues in the world around you. The program also introduces key research skills and will challenge you to develop critical thinking skills.

If you continue your studies through Monash’s accredited online Graduate Diploma in Psychology, you will receive academic credit for completing this program.

These are the questions at the heart of psychology. But the well-regarded scientific discipline of psychology that we know today has only been around for 100 years. Hi. I'm Matthew Mundy. And I'm the Director of Education for the School of Psychological Sciences at Monash University in Australia. And I'm the lead educator for the Introduction to Psychology program. In this program, you'll be introduced to the fascinating discipline of psychology. You'll learn about its origins and the scientific pioneers who helped to shape it.

Scientific inquiry is at the heart of psychology. Being able to effectively carry out research and then communicate your findings are essential skills for psychologists to have. In this program, you'll have the opportunity to hone your skills alongside other learners to apply psychological principles and theories to real-world situations. This program is designed for everyone, regardless of your experience or background. No prior study of psychology is required or expected.

Skip to 1 minute and 26 secondsHowever, if you've already completed a bachelor degree in a discipline other than psychology and you're interested in taking your study of psychology further, you would be able to receive additional benefit from completing this course. This program can give academic credit at Monash. If you successfully complete the courses in this program and if you apply for and are accepted into the Monash University fully-online Graduate Diploma of Psychology, you will receive credit for one of the foundation units in that course. So, if you are interested in psychology and in the study of psychology, this program is for you.

Courses and assessment

To get an award you will need to upgrade all courses on this program, then qualify for a Certificate of Achievement on each course. To qualify you need to do at least 90% of each course and score an average of 70% or above on any tests.

Once you have qualified for a Certificate of Achievement on every course you will be able to take a final assessment course. Pass the final assessment course to earn the chance to gain 1 academic credit towards Monash University's online Graduate Diploma of Psychology.

This program will require 12 weeks of learning, plus 6 weeks of assessment. The total cost for the courses is $564. You will also need to pay £499.00 GBP to take the assessment.

Learners who successfully complete all seven courses in this program, and who are accepted by Monash University into the Monash Online Graduate Diploma of Psychology (GDP) will receive academic credit for the first of the ten units in that course, Psychology 1A.
