Healthcare managers need to understand how to plan and manage resources to deliver and innovate

The program aims to develop knowledge and understanding of management theory and practice in resource planning and decision-making. Resource management will be explored with an emphasis on the understanding and use of appropriate theories to explain the ways in which organisations respond to challenges in healthcare.

Students will critically examine the different funding models used in healthcare and consider how these impact on organisational, team and individual performance.

  • Critically evaluate different models of healthcare funding and how these influence the delivery of patient care in healthcare organisations
  • Critically apply financial performance management, budgeting and cost benefit analysis to healthcare organisations
  • Critically evaluate the legal, ethical, educational and professional factors which impact the management of the healthcare workforce
  • Critique the skills and knowledge required by healthcare leaders which impacts upon finance and workforce
