Evaluate human and organisational behaviour in performance management

Increase your knowledge of the complex interrelationships between organisational structures and social networks within typical construction companies by applying the theoretical principles of organisational theory and behaviour to the management of construction industry employees.

You will look at the function of culture and structure within construction industry organisations, appraise the role of human resources management, and evaluate teamwork effectiveness, conflicts management, leadership, professional/organisational ethics, and health and safety management.

Danny McGough

Danny McGough is the course director for the Construction Management with BIM online course at Coventry. He's worked on a number of complex research projects focusing on BIM & sustainable development.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion you should be able to:

  • Evaluate the nature of human and organisational behaviour in the context performance management

  • Critically appraise motivation and personal development

  • Critically evaluate the role of organisations, teamwork effectiveness, conflicts management, leadership, professional/organisational ethic and health and safety management

  • Evaluate the structure and culture of organisations in the construction industry and recognition of difficulties in managing change

  • Appraise the role of human resources management in managing key processes such as quality and environmental awareness of product deliverable

  • Critical appraise client perspectives on construction activities and develop appropriate approaches to business development.
