This program provides the opportunity to critically examine the techniques used to carry out a strategic analysis and explore strategic frameworks, alongside developing and drafting an implementation, monitoring and feedback strategy, to develop and sustain competitive advantage.

It aims to provide potential business leaders and consultants of the construction industry with the knowledge, analytical skills and tools to identify and exploit what the future has to offer, and ensure that industry practitioners maintain their competitive advantage for a healthy, prosperous and successful future.

Who will you learn with?

Lecturer in construction project management Balan Venkatramani leads and teaches on several undergraduate and postgraduate modules. He possesses over three decades of industry and teaching experience.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding and critical awareness of the process of strategy formation in the context of the construction industry
  • Understand, apply and critically assess the value of models and techniques used to analyse and develop strategy
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the difficulties faced when devising and implementing strategy in the construction industry
  • Apply and evaluate corporate strategy in an industry and international context
  • Critically evaluate leadership theories and skills required in the construction and engineering industry
  • Demonstrate the awareness of technological strategies such as Building Information Modelling
