The Language, Learning and Literacy Group at the University of Oxford brings together researchers from the University’s Departments of Education and Experimental Psychology and St. John’s College. The Department of Education has an outstanding reputation for research, teacher education and assessment. The Department of Experimental Psychology conducts world-leading research, ranking in first place nationally in the Research Excellence Framework (2014) St. John’s College is proud of its commitment to scholarship and has outstanding facilities for professional training and the dissemination of research. The mission of the team is to conduct fundamental research into the development of reading, language and cognition and to translate robust research findings into evidence-based practice to the benefit of public policy. The Nuffield Early Language Intervention Programmes represent some 20 years of research into the causes of children’s language learning difficulties and the development of interventions to ameliorate them.
