  • As a person, I enjoy quality policies when they are being communicated graphically.

  • From my own point of view, the most important aspect of achieving change as a management is identifying the personality of each individual in an organisation before establishing change so as to prepare for maximum positive outcome of its establishment. Cultural is one aspect, but personality defies culture from every sense when there is "cultural hybrid"....

  • Yes, Quality is free, provided projects are executed with due diligence. However, quality can attract additional payment incase of negligence from any quarter.

  • The last session I had on quality management was during my professional review which qualifies me as a Chartered Construction Manager with CIOB (MCIOB). It was an insightful experience as I was able to identify scenarios of quality challenges on some of my projects, application of knowledge to address issues or to mitigate risk in quality and lessons learnt.

  • It is interesting to know that London South Bank University developed this Sustainability Course. It is enriching and informative. A thumbs up to the LEAD EDUCATOR - Adrian Montague as well.. Although, I could not participate in all of the activities because I just enrol in Robert Gordon University, Scotland, UK as a PhD Student. Settling down both...

  • A typical example of work with collaborative approach which I was involved with was a project I tagged " procurement of service providers and materials for the interior finishing of an already built apartment." In this apartment, part of my work was to install the lightings fittings and sanitary wares as the first fix of electrical and mechanical installation...

  • The challenges of implementation that readily comes to my mind is poverty and poor management of materials. Poverty in the sense that some site workers sell out used materials on site in exchange for meagre amount which hinders re-use for construction purposes while poor management can be due to inexperience or lack of adequate skills required to ensure the...

  • Hi Colin, the distinct difference between re-use and recycle from my understanding is re-use materials directly from just being used for a purpose while in recycling, the material(s) are reprocessed or treated before it can be used again.

  • The common method of green building I came across is in the area of landscaping. I have a friend who is a medical doctor and the husband is into transportation logistics. Moving into their house in the estate, they rearrange the landscape design in such that the soft part of the landscape is much more than the hard part. Initially, I thought within me that it...

  • My Suggestion is for the construction industry to enact laws that will regulate the activities of not only the public construction, but private as well. The trending window installation for residential buildings in some part of my country is a long, narrow window design. While requesting for the reason behind such, one of the developers informed me that it...

  • Yes, it is definitely possible to increase output using less materials to lessen the burden on natural environment. More so, personnel with appropriate expertise and skills should be considered or engaged in the use of these natural resources to avoid trial and error which in most cases result to wastages.

  • I believe that the construction industry should create global awareness of the deconstruction of sustainability into the three pillars of environmental, social and economic. The understanding of people about sustainability is mostly environmental. Social and economic aspect of it should be rooted as well.

  • My understanding of sustainable of sustainability has improved significantly because of the concise information obtained from this learning.
Government still has a lot to do as regards sustainability in my country being a developing country. Most of sustainable construction in details are sometimes executed by foreign construction companies and some few...

I want to share my experience in a situation where my vicinity was affected by poor sustainable practice. This development affected us both physically and mentally. I live in an estate in a highbrow part of Lagos State, Lekki, Nigeria. My family was one of the pioneering residents in the estate and the area. There was a creek that ran along the back of my...

  • Wao! This is interesting to know and alarming as well. There is need for collective responsibility under the tag " Custordianship." This will ensure the continuous use of natural environment in a better state for future generations. I do not live heavy life style. For instance, as a lady, I don't have stack of shoes, bags, accessories of different colours...

  • Nigeria is presently cold in most part of the country with the temperature ranging between 25 degree C to 29 degree C. This experience is not unusual this season as it becomes more humid towards the end of the year. In as much as there are lots of park with tree planting and greenery, some citizens enable the CO2 emmission into the air due to lots of cars...

  • My intending study area is in line with sustainability

  • Hello Adrian, for the CPD record, Is our participation automatically recorded or we have to record it on CIOB portal?

  • Sustainability in my own understanding means ensuring that the future generations are not deprived of their own needs while attending to our present needs. Sustainability which means the ability to sustain is very important for our health and the quality existence on earth. My role to ensuring a sustainable world is to have an in-depth understanding of the...
