Explore learning-centred leadership and the science behind teaching and learning

This program aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles underpinning the effective leadership of teaching and learning in a school setting.

You will be introduced to the importance of being a learning-centred leader, and how through this approach you can have greater influence on pupil outcomes and school effectiveness.

You will also have the chance to explore the benefits of: analysing classroom performance, understanding the science and theory of pedagogy, establishing dialogue on teaching and learning, and focusing on the skill development of your teachers.

Upon successful completion, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of learning-centred leadership in promoting effective teaching and developing an institution’s effectiveness.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of educational leaders having a focus on pedagogy.
  • Application of knowledge through case study activities in new or unfamiliar situations.
  • Integrating knowledge and handling complexity, and formulating judgments in your response to the online materials and in the two assessed pieces.
  • Commitment to a problem-solving approach, for formulating judgments.
  • Originality of thought and the academic skills of synthesis and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate your conclusions and the reasons for them to specialist and non-specialist audiences through online collaborative learning sets.
