  • This picture looks so peaceful and spacious. Though I am lucky to live in a house, during lockdown I am never alone and I must wake up early and meditate before everyone wakes up. Sometimes fitting it in to a quiet time of day can be stressful and it takes me a while to calm down. I hope to find peace regardless of my surroundings, but I am craving an isolated...

  • For me the fact that the world keeps spinning and everything goes on as normal and all we need to do is notice these things is very freeing and is what mindfulness allows us to do.

  • The first meditation for 40 minutes was very interesting. I chose to do it in the morning before anyone else was up as it seems like the only time I won't get disturbed. However, my mind feels the most active on waking and I found it very difficult to concentrate for the duration. At times it felt relaxing, for example when concentrating on the breath in the...

  • It's great that you're doing this course alongside your father. Enjoy.

  • I want to deepen my understanding of the roots of mindfulness, the benefits it can provide, and to find more calm in my life. Each time I meditate I remind myself that it is not only for my benefit but that of my loved ones and the wider community, I will bring this value with me. This course will be a success for me when mindfulness does not feel like an...

  • 3.7. Wonder what it will be at the end?

  • Good for you Chloe. Your journey is inspiring.

  • I miss real life yoga too. I enjoy the live classes that some studios are running as it feels like you are practising with a community in real time.

  • Hi, I'm Rebecca. I have travelled a lot in my career, mostly in Africa and India. I have utilised mindfulness to help me in challenging situations and to build my resilience. I also love yoga and meditation. During this very challenging time I am hoping to delve deeper into something I am interested in and that I think will help during difficult times. Looking...

  • That sounds great Stephen

  • Have you considered Kickstarter Susan? https://www.kickstarter.com/

  • Providing feedback for others can teach us a lot about ourselves. We are usually kinder and more constructive when objectively considering someone else's idea. It is when we can apply this viewpoint to our own ideas that we start to fly.

  • What a lovely thing to say Ishie! I'm glad you think so.

  • Hi Shalini, have you read the 5 steps further down this page? They explain how to upload your idea onto a board. Good luck!

  • Hi Oluchi, what would you like help with? This step is for sharing your idea as visually as you can, through drawings or pictures, for example. To upload your idea to a pin board you need to follow the 5 steps further down this page. Hope to see your idea on a board soon.

  • That's fantastic Ana. This is just the beginning.

  • Absolutely. I use post-its and sketches whenever I tackle the BMC.

  • Hi Martin, I do hope you come back and that the course and the community help you develop your ideas.

  • Well done to those of you who shared your ideas and congratulations to the award winners, looking forward to seeing where it takes you.

  • Good for you Susan. The ShedSocial community will definitely benefit from your bravery and passion.

  • More inspirational quotes please...

  • I like the analogy to marriage Christy, can you be 100% sure and ready? Though many people decide that they know enough to make a lifelong commitment.

  • Thanks for the feedback Ricardo. You're right that all ideas are not successful, though I am actually optimistic about failure. Success is usually a result of many failures and hard work.

  • Exactly! I like the idea of always having a small tin of biscuits in my bag!

  • Entrepreneurs don't stick to the rules and use all of the resources around them to achieve their goals, so I'm glad they used the biscuits in their idea generation.

  • This is an interesting point Hiba. Perhaps if they consider what they are all best at it would help them work as a team to come up with a good idea. Also, they are only restricted to the materials in the box if they choose not to break the rules.

  • You also have to consider whether useful means valuable. People put different value onto different things.

  • Very creative Jayne. That would have been fun!

  • Thank you for sharing Rosalie. Very inspiring.

  • Ask lots of people from different places in your life, that way you can make an informed decision about which feedback to take seriously. I think this course is a great place to gain honest feedback, as nobody really knows you, has any expectations, or any reason to be anything other than honest. In life, I ask people for feedback quite a lot - how do you...

  • Thank you for your comments. It can be tough living in a society loaded with expectations, where people want to be different and break the rules but often resort to staying in line to avoid "disappointing" people or being embarrassed to be honest and admit that things aren't going super well. But I'll end on a quote here - "Entrepreneurship is living a few...

  • Hi Tracey and Alina, why don't you try connecting off platform, like on Twitter, for example. You can DM and it's less personal :)

  • Like your thinking!

  • That's a very good point Jenny, what do your audience think? You may be surprised.

  • Yeah, go for it. What have you got to lose?

  • Very creative Sally, and fun!!

  • I know, sometimes you worry so much about completing a task that you don't see the individual components in front of you and allow your ideas to flow freely.

  • Hear hear!

  • Great summary Alison

  • Hi Lama, fear is very real and not easy to overcome. I think for me the first step is to identify what it is your afraid of. If you're afraid of losing money that you can't afford to lose, then you probably need to reassess your investment and start small. But if you are afraid of failing or what people might think of you and your idea, then I would advise...

  • That's a great motivation for taking this course Roy. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas develop.

  • and perfectly located for snacks :)

  • I think entrepreneurial people are full of ideas Karen. That is why getting your ideas out there is an important step as it helps you assess whether your idea fills a gap and whether there is a market for it, which will inform your decision of whether or not to invest your time and effort in that particular idea.

  • Meditation and mindfulness are fantastic for seeing the things around us clearly, allowing you to make sense of problems and find ideas to solve them. If you can calm the mind then you will always be able to escape to a peaceful and quiet shed!

  • That's what makes an entrepreneur - doing something with the ideas. Make sure you keep writing your ideas down in the morning Davide, and get them out there!

  • Sounds fantastic Linda!

  • I still loving using a white board, great for expressing ideas I find! Tina, why don't you get involved in the shedtech community too, you can follow Tony by clicking on his link further up this page.

  • 2016 could be the year to make your dream a reality Karen!

  • Perhaps luck does play a role, though I think we make our own luck. As they say, the harder you work the luckier you get.

  • So do you think you are entrepreneurial?

  • and work with people who are good at this and can support you in following through with your ideas.

  • Sounds like you are a seasoned entrepreneur Isabel and another venture is on the horizon.

  • Hi Dianna, thank you for sharing your ideas. I agree with Angela, using your local community centre for space would be ideal. In terms of marketing yourself, building your reputation and marketing through word of mouth will be very beneficial for this kind of work. Could you sell your arts and crafts classes in your local area, or approach large companies to...

  • Hi Huang, have you tried clicking on the links below the picture? You can watch it on YouTube, download it, or read the transcript. I hope you manage to view it.

  • and everyone has the capacity to be like this

  • This is true Isabel. Sharing your idea is also the first step in making it a reality, until it is out there it could just be another passing thought.

  • Hi Rosalie. That's great to hear. I agree with you, there are lots of ways to be an entrepreneur and often the only boundary to being entrepreneurial is the individual, for not doing something with their ideas.

  • Thank you for sharing Natalia, a very inspiring idea

  • Hi Wenner, I agree with Karen, your project could draw on different elements of the themes in the shed. Though it sounds to me that, ultimately, the problem you are trying to solve is a societal one. Looking forward to seeing how your ideas develop.

  • This is a very common fear Kellie. The trick is to change your perspective on failure. You can never be 100% sure an idea will succeed but this shouldn't prevent you from sharing. The more you fail the more you learn, some of the world's most successful entrepreneurs have failed many times and keep on getting up and improving.

  • What a great approach to problems Alpo, if everyone viewed problems so positively and focused on solutions, imagine the change we could create?

  • Absolutely Fan. You're an inspirational bunch of people.

  • Yes, of course. This is just a start so people can create connections with those who share a similar focus and similar interests. Keep your eye out for the themes you might be interested in and the people you would like to follow.

  • You've come to the right place Alpo, I'm looking forward to seeing how your idea develops
