  • How is the cyber security landscape changing? What are your views?

    If we take England for example, it seems from what I have 'observed' is that organisations tend to manage security using a [firefighting] approach. That doesn't work in most cases. The worst part, is that the people at the head of these departments etc, don't even have a background in...

  • Good advice. Thanks.

    Hello.
    Can I ask you, what Level would you say England is at the moment [May 2023], in terms of Cyber Threats/Risks? Level 3?
    What would say are one's prospects, in terms of being employed in the Information/Cyber-Security space? I already hold an MSc IT Security (Westminster). Thanks.

  • Consider your home and work environment. What aspects are connected to the Internet and what risks can you already identify?

    At Home
    I use BT's Broadband service. No issues so far.

    At Work
    Not sure, big network, provided by a big vendor HGS. Again no issues so far.

  • Do you think that the fact that a national supervisory authority will be able to start an investigation at any time has any effect on the behaviour of data controllers and processors?
    In theory no, but in reality they may be apprehensive, as their 'role/supervision ' may be questioned or evaluated.

    Very rewarding Week. Many thanks for your time, effort and resources provided!

  • … The Rights regarding processing of information – profiling. As a Data Subject [DS] I don’t want or am interested in these Online Platforms using my data for their own agenda.

    I wasn’t aware until this week, that a DS may be entitled to compensation for the damages caused/infringement of data/information held by a third party, which is ‘unauthorised”.

  • Excellent. Thank you.
    PS - I see that my Answer was right!

  • As an GDPR Expert, is there an Approach you can recommend to Data Controllers when responding/answering tp Questions/Issues like the one you just asked above please?

    Is this, what you are referring to?

    I am beginning to really understand the scope, depth and 'spirit' of GDPR now. Many thanks.

  • Can the use of such a system justify the application of the right not to be subjected to automated individual decision-making?

    There seems to be a motive here of the Online Platform. I don't think Data Subjects agree to this purpose. Does this come under Profiling? Thanks.

  • This is a Legal Remedy for infringement of rights/material damages? Excellent research/topic coverage.
    Many thanks.

  • What are the steps you could take in this situation in order to make justice prevail?

    You could contact the party in writing and lodge a formal Complaint.
    Wait for a response, which should be forthcoming within 3 months. If not, Inform the National Data Security Authority, who will take up the case.

  • OK, got it. Thanks.

  • Would he be able to achieve his goal by starting legal proceedings against the newspaper?

    My legal guess would be NO, because the information about him, is of general interest to the public, who may need to know his background accordingly. Am I right?

  • Interesting Judgement. Thanks.

  • Thank you.

  • What are the categories of your personal data that you would perceive as particularly important and as requiring the immediate exercise of the right to object or the rights to restriction and rectification if they are inaccurate?

    * Criminal Data
    * Financial Data
    * Employment Data etc.

  • Are you still with us?
    Yes.

  • You would probably agree that these rights cannot be disregarded, wouldn’t you?
    Yes.

  • Please, think about the way information and communication are provided in this case and how transparent it was.
    What is the reason for the processing, not clear. Administrative purposes? Was Consent requested/given?

    Additionally, reflect on the choice for oral communication as a crucial modality.
    I wouldn't encourage this in practice, subject to...

  • OK. Thank you.

  • Please, write a short text explaining why we need data subject rights and how we can ensure their protection.

    Week 2 - OK ready. Thanks.

  • Would you be able to indicate whether you will have to acquire data subjects’ consent?
    Yes.

    How you are planning to do it?
    Request reason in writing from parent or legal guardian.

    What would be in your case the most appropriate way of keeping records of consent statements received?
    Perhaps both a manual record/file (request) for a speific period...

  • Thanks for the important clarification on that - Children and Minors.
