Syllabus
The aim of this course is to empower you to find real solutions to this very real environmental crisis. It will give you the knowledge, skills and the motivation to make a difference, and to improve patient and planetary health for now and the future.
The course:
- Focuses on Goal 13, ‘Climate Action’ of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) and highlights that the goal of ‘Climate Action’ is inextricably linked with several of the other goals.
- Discusses new ways of thinking to devise a more connected, holistic and multidisciplinary concept of planetary health and sustainable healthcare.
- Introduces the concept of “scope emissions” to consider the impact your workplace is having on your nation’s footprint and, discusses what you can do to make a change.
- Explores some clinical scenarios to illustrate the impact climate change is having, and will have, on patient and population health.
- Identifies the steps undertaken by the UK and overseas governments and NHS trusts, and highlights some inspiring work done by healthcare professionals from around the world, to protect patients, populations, and the planet.
- Encourages change with examples of entrepreneurship and leadership in driving sustainable healthcare and provides some of the tools, skills, and a roadmap to enable you to go out, take action, and make a difference.
