Week 1 - Principles of apprenticeship curriculum design
- The elements and components parts that need to be built into the curriculum
- The knowledge, skills and behaviours can be designed and delivered as part of the curriculum
- Ways to embed English, maths and mandatory qualifications into the wider programme of learning
- The importance of the Gateway and end-point assessment and what impact this has on your curriculum design and delivery
- The range of support that can be provided to support student transition from secondary school
Week 2 - Adapting your curriculum
- How to accurately capture the apprentice’s prior learning and adapt the curriculum
- Different ways in which to conduct high-quality progress reviews and on-programme assessment and shape the curriculum as a result
- How on- and off-the-job training can enhance the learning for both the apprentice and employer
- What equality, diversity and inclusion means for your curriculum design and delivery
Week 3 - Independent learning week
Participants consolidate learning from Weeks 1 and 2 by choosing one of three independent learning tasks relating to technical curriculum design.
Week 4 - Bringing it all together
- Ways in which to adapt the curriculum based on additional learning support needs of the apprentice
- Ways in which curriculum design and delivery will look different for higher and degree apprenticeships and in HE settings
- Ways to test the quality of your curriculum design and delivery
- Useful links, resources and tools to help you implement what you have learnt
