You’ll explore this process of self-examination and critical thinking with practical examples, including the Ladder of Inference, which will help you understand how to interpret your experiences and draw insightful conclusions.

Explore reflective models and the importance of questions

You’ll then consider two key frameworks, Kolb’s Action Learning Cycle and Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle, to guide you in understanding the process of reflection and how to apply it towards your own contexts.

What’s more, you’ll grow into a reflective thinker by grasping the importance of questions in the reflective process. Engaging with these questions will enhance your critical thinking skills and enable you to deepen your insights.

      The Ladder of Inference described by Peter Senge in his best seller The Fifth Discipline.

    • Reflection Activity

      This is your opportunity to reflect on the provided examples and engage in a discussion with your peers.

  • Week 2

    Reflective practice explained

    • How does the process of reflective practice work?

      This week, we will consider two key models to understand how the process of reflective practice works plus explore the important role of questions in reflective practice.

    • The value of questions

      Reflective practice is about curiosity which is a critical attitude of effective professionals and leaders.

  • Week 3

    Becoming a reflective practitioner

    • The process of becoming a reflective practitioner

      In this activity the practices and techniques of reflective practice used by a reflective practitioner will be covered.

    • Reflective Journaling

      A very useful technique that reflective practitioners use to undertake reflection and record their reflections.

    • Reflection Activity

      Putting Cold Reflection into practice

    Application of reflective practice

    • Building our skills

      This is the first of four sub-topics we will explore how we can apply reflective practice as we build our skills and knowledge to be effective and resilient professionals.
