Critical Perspectives on Contemporary Leadership and Followership
Explore the impact of modern leadership styles and followership behaviours
Leadership and power play significant roles in our lives, from shaping societies and governing policies to building multinational organisations.
On this four-week course from Grenoble Ecole de Management, you’ll take a deep dive into traditional and contemporary leadership styles to develop a nuanced understanding of effective leadership practices.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to critically assess leadership and followership, and apply modern frameworks to a variety of settings.
Explore the evolution of leadership
You’ll begin this course by unpacking traditional leadership styles, including authoritarian, transactional, and bureaucratic approaches to leading.
Then you’ll explore contemporary practices, like servant and team-based leadership, which emphasise collaboration, empowerment, and the well-being of team members.
Better grasp these modern methods by turning to other disciplines, such as Aikido, and perspectives, including leadership within Indigenous communities
Grasp leadership ethics
Examine the positive and negative aspects of traditional and modern leadership styles, including liberating, servant, and mindful leadership, as well as dysfunctional, toxic, and narcissistic leadership.
This will help you develop a comprehensive understanding of ethical leadership and recognise the impact different styles have on organisations and individuals.
You’ll also distinguish positive leadership styles and behaviours from negative ones.
Expand your leadership skills with Grenoble Ecole de Management
Throughout the course, you’ll be guided by the specialists at Grenoble Ecole de Management.
With this expertise, you’ll finish the course with enhanced critical thinking in leadership and the practical skills to apply diverse leadership styles ethically and effectively.
