SCRN2300.3: Hollywood Diversity: Blockbuster, Arthouse, Exploitation

An exploration of Hollywood’s diverse and most well-known commercial cinema.

  • Duration

    3 weeks
  • Weekly study

    3 hours

This is the third of four courses that make up the SCRN2300 Hollywood and Beyond: American Cinema in Context program.

Each week we examine a specific feature film and its historical, industrial, national, social, economic, political, and cultural dimensions, covering key moments in Hollywood history and select other American cinema.

The program charts the connections and stark differences within films from this part of the world and the similarly diverse nature of cinema studies from the region, gaining both inside and outside perspectives on the most powerful country in history and its equally dominant commercial cinema.
