Discover the best leadership style for you
You will explore what we mean by leadership and why leadership matters. We will identify the uncomfortable realities of leadership and begin to investigate the essential characteristics of effective leaders.
In discussion with your course tutor, you will begin to identify your own personal objectives for undertaking this Master’s Course, evaluate your preferred leadership styles, and begin to sow the seed for the key Leadership in Action project.

By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to...
- Explore the nature of leadership; why some leaders are effective, and others are not
- Compare and contrast examples of effective and unsuccessful leadership
- Explain why leadership matters
- Assess why leadership fails and give examples of the uncomfortable realities of leadership
- Compare and contrast the personal qualities which characterise good leadership, explain the importance of authenticity and evaluate the value of different leadership styles
- Evaluate and reflect on your personal preferred leadership style in your current role
- Explore your motivation for achieving the role of an educational leader
- Describe how the principles of good leadership apply in realistic educational contexts and evaluate the merits or difficulties of different approaches
