Mental Health Care Specialisms

This module has been designed to allow students to develop specialist knowledge on certain mental health skills, interventions and understanding of the therapeutic milieu. It relates to other modules on your course including collaborative mental health care and contemporary mental health care and furthermore, has been designed to support you to be able to understand and comprehend various specialised aspects of the ‘craft of caring’ for people with a serious mental illness. Importantly, the curriculum has been designed to support the holistic learning of the latest academic theory delivered using cutting-edge pedagogues online teaching methods.

What will you achieve?

By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to...

  • Synthesise knowledge on certain mental health specialisms, appraising the evidence base
  • Evaluate complex interventions in mental health care, with a focus on individualised care and recovery.
  • Compare and contrast the effectiveness of the specialist services
  • Develop and analyse an innovative initiative which promotes and enhances the recovery process.
  • Assess understanding of the concept of inter-professional working in specialised services.

Who will you learn with?

I am a registered Mental Health Nurse and qualified therapist by trade, and have a degree in community practice, an MA in Psychoanalysis and Teaching and learning and successfully completed my PhD.

I am an Online Content Technician for Anglia Ruskin University. I work collaboratively with academics in the creation and application of online content on our distance learning programmes.
