Week one explores group and team working, and by the end of this week you should:

  1. Understand the core function of a team, and how individuals interact in order to contribute to a collaborative team.
  2. Understand the theoretical concepts proposed by Belbin (1993) and Honey (1991) on personal roles within a team.
  3. Understand the influence of group dynamics on a collaborative project, and identify how conflict can be managed in the team environment.

Then in week two, the content will be exploring the role of leaders and leadership in effective team working, innovation and change. By the end of the topic you should also be able to:

  1. Understand the role of leader in a project, and have an awareness of the differences between formal and informal authority.
  2. Develop and awareness of different leadership styles.
  3. Identify how leadership style may influence the team’s ability to effectively collaborate on an innovative project.
