Discover techniques to apply in your leadership role
Given the continued lack of gender balance in leadership roles, there is a need to provide females with the tools, strategies, and best practices to support them in their leadership endeavours. This microcredential will do just that.
It will help you gain practical skills to apply in your leadership role as a female such as; building team trust, presence, and influence whilst also addressing challenges unique to women in leadership roles.
You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the context in which you work, your leadership influence, and your individualised leadership style. With this knowledge, you’ll learn how to build on your skills and experience to develop a strong leadership brand.
Unpack leadership challenges for women
As you delve into the leadership environment for women, you’ll discover the different leadership challenges women face, such as the glass ceiling.
Drawing on the personal experiences of female leaders in rural and regional settings, you’ll also explore geographic challenges such as; work culture, commuting and transport, and promotional opportunities.
Explore different leadership styles
Using relevant real-life examples, you’ll explore leadership styles and best practices. This includes how to build teams, and how to match employee goals to their roles to maintain motivation and improve efficiency.
With this knowledge, you’ll discover how to find your leadership style and unleash your full potential.
Develop your leadership brand
You’ll learn to define your leadership goals before exploring your presence on social media and your personal leadership brand. Through these practical exercises, you’ll learn how to effectively build your brand as a female leader.
Learn to communicate your leadership vision
With an understanding of your leadership goals, you’ll learn how you can communicate your vision with impact.
Developing your influencing skills, you’ll learn how to motivate employees and lead high-performing teams. You’ll also cover how biases and cognition can impact a leader’s perceived image and how to tackle these biases whilst maintaining personal and professional integrity.
Create your leadership development plan
This microcredential will enhance your self-awareness and ability to apply theories and tools to your own practice in leadership, allowing you to build on your current job or potentially step into a new leadership role.
You’ll gain both theoretical knowledge and discover practical application to an individualised leadership plan.
You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in social learning, with a platform to share and discuss the understanding of topics and receive constructive feedback.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll complete two assessments. The first will help you develop your leadership brand as you complete a written reflection and analysis on the application of key concepts in leadership.
Your second assessment will require you to create a written leadership development plan including the components you have learned on the microcredential.
How will leadership skills help my career?
The skills gained from this microcredential can be used for any female who is aspiring, or currently in, a leadership position. You’ll learn how to apply these skills to your context to develop in your career.
Learners can be from a range of industries, professions, and positions from graduate level to senior executive.
What will I receive?
Upon successful completion of this microcredential you’ll receive a digital badge and you may also be eligible for recognition of up to five Australian credits (equivalent to 50 learning hours constituting one third of a full course/unit in higher education at Federation University). The eligibility will be issued at the discretion of the relevant Institute of Federation University.
