Explore operations management, which deals with the design and management of products, processes, services, and supply chains before looking at operations within the context of project processes and process improvement.

The management of risk is of critical importance in the management of projects. You will initially explore the concepts of risk and uncertainty in the contexts of projects before moving into some of the specific practices of risk management such as qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.

Understand both quality and production management, initially reviewing the definitions and attributes of quality itself as well the various ways it can be managed before moving onto key aspects of production management such as product strategies, life cycles and value chains.

You will focus on performance and productivity improvement by exploring their concepts as well as specific ways in which they can be measured and improved. It then traverses key concepts and approaches to problem solving as well as the socio, technical, and psychological factors affecting our ability to make decisions.

Review two key dimensions of workplace management. The first focuses on health and safety, an understanding of which is crucial if the project manager is to meet their regulatory requirements. The second looks at conflict, from its definition and cause through to ways it can be managed in the pursuit of building high performing project teams.
