Explore who has more power: states or corporations
During this course you will have the opportunity to examine the reasons for the rise and spread of multinational corporations (MNCs), why businesses internationalise and the process through which this happens. The course aims to outline the Uppsala model of business internationalisation and assess how it is applicable to modern companies.
You will also have the chance to explore the complexity of the relationship between states and MNCs, their main bargaining powers and how these vary according to specific circumstances.
What topics will you cover?
- An introduction to business internationalisation
- The Uppsala model – a theory that describes the way in which firms internationalise
- The rise and fall of multinational corporations (MNCs)
- The relationship between states and MNCs, their different goals and how this can bring them into conflict
- The bargaining powers of states and MNCs and how they negotiate the terms and conditions of their relationship
