Navigate university admissions with enhanced interview skills

Preparing for a university interview can feel intimidating – but it doesn’t have to be. With the right preparation and mindset, you can approach this critical admissions step with confidence.

Leave a lasting impression on your upcoming university interview with this online course from the University of Reading. In just two weeks, you’ll gain practical strategies for before, during, and after your interview experience.

Get interview-ready with common interview questions and answers

On the first week of this course, you’ll focus on the preparation stage of the interview process.

You’ll start with the essentials: what a university interview is, how it differs from other types, and why it’s a part of the application process at all. After that, you’ll explore common interview questions, including strength, behavioural, and skills-based questions, and gain helpful tools for answering them, such as the STAR (situation, task, action, and result) method.

Throughout the week, you’ll develop tailored answers to typical interview questions, then put your skills to practice in a mock interview recorded by an admissions tutor.

Become a confident interviewer with the University of Reading

On week two of this course, you’ll continue your interview preparation by unpacking the practicalities of your university interview, from how to get to the interview site to common missteps to avoid.

You’ll discover confidence-building tools to make your interview experience as stress-free as possible, and apply what you’ve learned about positive body language, speaking confidently, and managing pre-interview nerves with additional mock-interview practice.

You’ll wrap everything up by discussing what to do after you’ve completed your interview and what to expect in the next stages of the application process.
