Enhance apprentices’ experience with digital technology

Apprenticeships are changing. The UK Government has introduced new standards to ensure apprentices are receiving quality training. Discover how using digital technology can enrich your apprentices’ experience and open up opportunities for your organisation.

You’ll learn how to weave in digital resources across the whole apprentice journey from preparation to end-point assessment. You’ll navigate through the Jisc Apprenticeship Toolkit stages of Preparation, Planning, Delivery and Assessment which will help you develop your own designs for a digitally-enriched apprenticeship programme.

Skip to 0 minutes and 5 seconds [Diana:] The world of work and apprenticeships is changing. Employers are increasingly eager to recruit staff who are comfortable in the new digital era. So teachers and training providers must prepare apprentices for that. Digital is there to help, if you know how to harness it. So in this course, we focus on the digital enrichment of apprenticeships. [Bronwen:] Employers and training providers must also work together so that the 20% study time required in apprenticeship is blended seamlessly with their work. Only digital methods can truly achieve that. Throughout the UK, there are training providers and companies experimenting with digital methods. [Diana:] The course gives you a window into how they’re doing this.

Skip to 0 minutes and 50 seconds From the experiences of teachers and colleges, trainers and companies, employers and apprentices, you’ll find out how staff are trained to support learning at work, how digital tools support an individual learning plan, how digital tools keep apprentices connected anytime, anywhere, how apprentices collect digital evidence of their own achievements, and how apprentices track their individual feedback and progress online. [Neil:] The case studies in this course come from a range of different industry sectors, including agriculture, fashion, technology, media, and health. But all of them use similar digital tools and methods to enrich their apprentices’ learning through work. So whatever your field, you’ll find something useful in this course. [Bronwen:] During the course, you’ll be trying out these digital tools yourself.

Skip to 1 minute and 43 seconds You’ll also discuss online with other participants and hear about what they’re doing. this will help you discover how you can make digital tools work well in your own context. [Diana:] Studying on the course is easy. You can do it in around four hours a week using your computer or mobile device. And being online, it’s very flexible. So please join us and make your contribution to digitally enriching apprenticeships.
