Influence and guide workplace change

This stackable short course (microcredential) enables you to understand workplace change issues, create a plan that is realistic and achievable, and use appropriate tools for managing and contributing to the change process.

What you’ll learn

In this stackable short course (microcredential), you’ll:

  • Select and apply a range of change tools based on an understanding of a situation, and the role and purpose of each tool.
  • Plan how to facilitate change across an organisation using appropriate communication principles, channels, and messaging for stakeholders.
  • Create a basic change management plan that considers different types of change, identifies key change roles, and sets realistic expectations and achievable goals.

How you’re assessed

Produce a plan for a specific change project in your own workplace (or a selected workplace agreed with the educator) including selecting appropriate tools, a roadmap with a timeframe for your change and other required components.

Document your plan either in a business report (2500 words), PowerPoint slides (maximum 30 slides with detailed notes) or self-recorded video (20–25 minutes).

Co-designed with industry

This industry-led stackable short course is co-designed with Gilbert Kruidenier from Kruidenier Consultancy. Together, we’ve designed a course where you’ll gain skills that you can apply immediately in your workplace.

Stackable or standalone

This microcredential can be completed to receive a standalone credential or stacked together with related stackable microcredentials to build towards a full postgraduate Deakin degree later.

  • Distinguish fundamental change tools, which can be applied within organisations. 
  • Create a basic change management plan that considers different types of change, identifies key change roles and sets realistic expectations and achievable goals.
  • Select and apply a range of change tools based on an understanding of a situation, and the role and purpose of each tool.
  • Create a basic communications plan that raises organisational change awareness through effective use of channels and messaging to stakeholders.
  • Educate others in change principles, engage with and influence stakeholders, and visualise the change across various audiences.

Are you eligible for this microcredential?

To be successful we recommend you are proficient in English and have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field or significant work experience.

This microcredential is available ‘on demand’, as such it is open in 6 week learning periods. Learners can commence at any time and complete in a minimum 6 weeks, or maximum 6 month period. The opportunity to join live sessions and assessment windows are provided regularly to ensure all learners receive the same level of support.

    You’ll have access to the welcome area to introduce yourself and familiarise yourself with the microcredential structure and course materials.

This microcredential can be stacked together with related Deakin stackable short courses (micro-credentials)

To build towards full postgraduate Deakin degrees:

  • Graduate Certificate of Business Administration
  • Master of Business Administration

This microcredential has been developed by Deakin University at an AQF9 (Masters level) standard and provides Credit into a range of degrees.

As there is no standard for credit in Australia, at Deakin University this credential equates to half a point of academic credit, equal to half a unit of postgraduate study.
