This program aims to provide a thorough comprehension of information security concepts and an understanding of how they are applied using network, internet and mobile technologies.

You will explore the security threats posed to today’s computer networks, as well as gain a critical awareness of the latest issues and best practices in the design of secure networks.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this program, you should be able to:

  • Apply network security concepts and protocols to contemporary Internet and mobile-based solutions and technologies.
  • Critically evaluate the role of a security policy for protecting information assets and demonstrate self-direction in designing security policies to defend those assets within the context of global communication and the web.
  • Summarise IT Governance that relates to information security and evaluate how it influences the security policy of an organisation.
  • Critically review a wide range of current research and technological advances in network security.
