Corporate Finance: Investment Appraisal and Valuation

Develop your knowledge of company valuation and project evaluation techniques

You'll use the knowledge acquired in the first two programs and apply them to investment appraisal and business cases, such as valuing shares. The main topics covered are company valuation and project evaluation techniques. This includes net present value, profitability index, internal rate of return, and payback method.

You’ll gain an understanding of the fundamentals of financial analysis and corporate finance theory, analyse financial statements and assess alternative methods for valuing companies, prepare financial projections of projects, and carry out sensitivity analysis.

Who will you learn with?

I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Open University and lead its MSc in Finance. My research is on the financing of innovative businesses, venture capital and frictions in financial markets.

I am a Chartered Accountant who, before moving into teaching, worked in the real estate investment and development sector. I have also been a director on a number of investment funds.
