How it works
Climate Solutions: Egypt
Examine the impact of climate change and climate justice
Climate change is the biggest global challenge of the 21st century.
On this five-week course from the University of Edinburgh, you’ll examine the impact of climate change and climate justice, investigating discrepancies between those responsible and those most affected by climate change.
Beginning with global climate challenges, you’ll then focus on the effects of climate change in Egypt and learn how young people can drive action in the fight against climate change.
Investigate concepts of climate science
Guided by experts in climate policy, you’ll be presented with critical scientific facts, gathered from thousands of climate studies.
You’ll learn how climate models are developed to predict the future before delving into the climate of Egypt and understanding how it has changed in recent years.
With this knowledge, you’ll be able to discuss climate change in global and local contexts, using your enhanced climate literacy.
Learn how to manage climate risk
Building on your learning from previous weeks, you’ll examine how to assess and manage climate risk and discuss how communities can mitigate or adapt to climate change.
You’ll address climate hazards and learn how to assess risk using tools such as the risk triangle and hierarchy of responses, helping you develop strategies to counter risks in context.
Explore global climate solutions and climate action
On the final week of this course, you’ll investigate climate solutions and how to get involved with positive climate action.
You’ll be introduced to sustainable development goals, carbon footprinting, and climate activism.
With the knowledge, tools, and strategies you’ve encountered during this course, you’ll be able to start a climate change conversation and take steps to make a difference in your community.
