Welcome to the course!
Hello! Welcome to Creative problem-solving. Thank you for joining this course. We hope you enjoy the next four weeks with us. Before we begin our journey, let’s make you understand more about us.
Why we are here?
This course is all about creativity, helping you think in a different way. It was designed by the National Chiao Tung University to help people solve problems in their work or private life. In the course, we start by understanding creativity and move to techniques for helping you develop your creativity. Let’s color your life via creative thinking!
How does the course work?
Each week, we will prepare some interesting assignments, articles and exercises to provoke your creativity. In week 1, we’ll concentrate on the meaning of creativity, which includes breaking up the myths about it. We’ll also help you to clarify the relationship between innovation and creativity. In week 2, we’ll systematically introduce the sources of creativity, ranging from the individual to environmental factors (i.e. Amabile’s model), and Rhodes’ 4P creative model. We expect to discuss together the sources of creativity, and how these factors might affect you as an individual. In week 3, we focus on processes in the 4P model to help introduce you to problem-solving techniques and the decision making process. You will also learn to use some practical tools such as mind-mapping. We’ll help you build up a way to think efficiently. For the final week, we will bring in several more useful creative problem-solving tools, such as brainstorming, brain-writing and the six thinking hats. We will also to introduce another resource of the creative problem-solving process.
