You have now encountered Joe Brydon – the last you saw of him, he was about to be arrested following the incident near the nightclub. This week we are going to look at the police investigation into possible offences committed by Joe, and at the decision whether to prosecute him. In doing this, we will consider some aspects of how policing works and how it is regulated, some issues to do with the role of lawyers in criminal justice, and some aspects of how decisions to prosecute are made.

This video gives you an idea of what is coming next. We’ve had a think about the idea of crime, and we’ve met Joe. Now we’re going to start following Joe’s case through the criminal justice process: this week we’ll be thinking about some issues to do with the investigation and prosecution of offences.
