Welcome to Week 1

Welcome to Week 1. Now that we have introduced the course and you have had a chance to introduce yourselves, let’s begin learning about disability and global health!

For the rest of this week we will focus on introducing what disability means, and why it is so important to the global development agenda.

What will we learn?

In our activities for the rest of this week we will:

  • Describe the magnitude of disability and highlight the relevance of disability to the global development agenda

  • Explain how disability is understood in a global health framework

  • Explain what disability is and how it can be measured

We really encourage you to share your reflections and experiences with your fellow learners throughout the course of this first week. We will be joining your discussions throughout the steps in the Comments area. We will summarise and clarify any key points in discussions in a summary document that will be added to Step 1.20 at the end of Week 1.
