Skip to 0 minutes and 11 seconds DR LEE MARTIN: Do you work in a culturally diverse team? As globalisation increases, diverse teams are becoming more common. At some time in your career, you’ll almost certainly work in a multicultural team. So how do you make the most of it?

Skip to 0 minutes and 28 seconds Hello, I’m Dr. Lee Martin, lecturer in management at Deakin University. I teach and conduct research on cultural diversity in organisations, and have extensive experience working in and leading multicultural teams. Working in a culturally diverse team isn’t always easy to manage. Different cultural norms and expectations can lead to misunderstandings or conflict between team members. The cultural diversity doesn’t just present challenges to manage, it also presents opportunities. Organisations can really benefit from the different perspectives and creativity of a diverse team. The question is, how do we harness the benefits while minimising the challenges? In this course we’ll help you to develop a deeper understanding of cultural diversity. And together, we’ll identify effective strategies for leading inclusive and high performing teams.

Skip to 1 minute and 29 seconds As a learner in this course, you’ll have an opportunity to share diverse experiences with your global peers on FutureLearn.
