Skip to 0 minutes and 18 secondsHi, I’m Santi! Have you already introduced yourself on the forum? Le'ts go! We start this week!
Skip to 0 minutes and 27 secondsWe’ll be looking at two main areas, very important: First we’ll see how sign languages are not artificial systems, but rather natural languages. They are the natural languages for deaf people, like me. The second lesson of the week is learning to say hello and introduce yourself. Ah, and one more thing! There isn’t just one sign language in the world. Many hearing people think there is, but actually there are a huge number of different sign languages. This is also an area we will be looking at. Are you ready to start? You can start with whichever step you like, but I would recommend you follow the order of activities as they are programmed. Ah!

Welcome to Week 1
In this video, Santi presents an overview of the week and how to comment in this course.
We are looking forward to learning your opinions and seeing your activity in the Comments. You can type your thoughts and ideas in English, but we also encourage you to post links and start practicing Catalan Sign Language.
For those who are new to sign language, please note: we don’t expect you to understand the videos perfectly during the first week. However, watching them will help you get familiar with the language and improve your learning throughout the course. You can slow the video down to half the speed to better see how the signs are made. In the video player, simply hover over 1x and select 0.5x instead.
