Next Generation Sequencing Technologies: Principles and Applications
Explore the features and applications of next generation sequencing technologies
Successful acquisition, storage, analysis, and assimilation of next generation sequencing (NGS) data is achieved through various NGS technologies, making these bioinformatics platforms crucial to genomics.
On this two-week course, Universiti Malaya will introduce you to the principles, performance, and applications of NGS technologies. With this understanding, you’ll be able to select and apply the correct platform for any genomics study.
Unpack the differences in next generation sequencing platforms
As you learn about DNA sequencing and the principles of NGS technologies, you’ll start to explore the different NGS platforms to help you understand how to choose the right one for your research.
You’ll also review the major applications of NGS, which will further enable you to select the most appropriate platforms for whatever a project’s specific purpose and needs are.
Understand bioinformatics data analysis
Once you have a clear grasp on the principles and applications of NGS, you’ll have the chance to examine how the technologies work.
By delving into the computing needs for NGS data analysis, and the common steps in early-stage analysis, you’ll gain even more insight into how to use these tools in various situations.
Learn from a genomics expert and Universiti Malaya
Throughout the course, you’ll be guided by a specialist in next-generation sequencing technologies and learn from her extensive knowledge of bioinformatics approaches and analytical tools.
By the end of this two-week course from the Universiti Malaya, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to select appropriate experimental design and data analyses for NSG.
