Skip to 0 minutes and 2 secondsOur colour of the year for 2017 is this beautiful blue, denim drift. So how did we get here? Every year, we have five international design experts to explore with us the global, social, and design trends that will impact the colour choices in our homes. Blue is an essential colour of our everyday lives, from a clear sky to the clothes in your wardrobe. And we heard from our experts how often blue is appearing in the different areas of design. We identify the spectrum of blues to suit different lifestyles and living spaces. From this palette, denim drift stood out as the colour of the year, because it's timeless and yet, so on trend.

Skip to 0 minutes and 45 secondsMore and more, we are connecting with the world around us on a deeper level. People are increasingly aware of their impact on the planet. We want to see the elements of the world that inspire us in the spaces that we create.

Skip to 1 minute and 0 secondsWith our trend watchers, we explored a new feeling of isolation that has come with developments in technology in fast-paced cities. People are realising the importance of belonging, and are developing new definitions of community.

Skip to 1 minute and 17 secondsOur homes are becoming the centre for both work and personal life. The architects and interior designers in our group spoke of the increasing challenge to create environments where we can find balance between the two. We're seeing a new kind of consumerism, where value is placed on personal experience and not on possessions. The concept of silent design being understated with full, full attention to detail, perfectly reflects this new way of living. I love our collaborative process. It has again resulted in an on-trend colour palette that will transform the home.
