Probability and Inferential Statistics
Make predictions easier by calculating probability
In this short course, you will have the chance to explore how probability is constructed and used. You will also have the opportunity to utilise probability models in different case materials to study the variation on observed data so that inferences about the underlying process can be developed.
This course also introduces the sampling distribution and standard error, helping you to learn about the characteristics related to unknown population.
What topics will you cover?
- Approaches to probability
- Relative frequency method
- Types and methods of probability
- Probability and normal distribution
- Sampling distribution
Learning on this course
On every step of the course you can meet other learners, share your ideas and join in with active discussions in the comments.
What will you achieve?
By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to...
- Identify probability approaches and the relationships between probability and relative frequency
- Describe and compute probability and Bayes’ theorem for conditional outcomes
- Identify the characteristics of the normal distribution and the standard normal distribution
- Calculate and construct standard normal distribution
- Calculate the mean and standard error of a sampling distribution
- Describe different sampling methods and sampling distribution
Who is the course for?
This course is designed for students and entry-level data analysts who wish to pursue business analyst or data analyst careers.
Please note that the individuals detailed in the ‘Who will you learn with?’ section below, are current staff members and may be subject to change.
