Gain the tools to improve your teaching methods
This three-week course will help support you as an educator create learning through play experiences for your students – from early childhood education through to primary school.
Through this training course, you’ll discover the science of learning, the play facilitation spectrum, and two new tools; Teacher RePlay and Children ReAct.
Understanding what it means for children to learn playfully, you’ll develop your knowledge of early childhood education, curriculum and learning design, inclusive teaching, and primary education teaching.
Delve into the aspects of learning through play and free play
You’ll start by gaining a deeper understanding of what learning through play entails and how children play to learn.
Uncovering how play is an important vehicle for children’s learning, you’ll learn how to facilitate playful experiences such as children’s self-directed free play to guided forms.
With this knowledge, you’ll be able to harness the power of play in your classroom.
Discover advanced teaching tools
Next, you’ll delve into the Teacher RePlay tool as a means of supporting playful learning in the classroom.
Using examples, you’ll gain practical skills in how to apply the tool to teacher-directed play, free play, and guided play.
Learn from the experts at the LEGO Foundation
Finally, you’ll explore the Children ReAct tool to understand what children think of a learning-through-play activity.
Learning from the experts at the LEGO Foundation, you’ll finish the course with a deep understanding of the effectiveness of learning through play. You’ll also be equipped with the tools to successfully implement teaching tools into your classroom.

Learning Through Play
Welcome to the course
The following steps will welcome you to the course. You'll learn what we will cover and you'll get to meet your fellow learners.
What we mean by learning through play
In the following steps. We will explore how children play to learn, and harness that power to learn and develop in the classroom.
Play facilitation spectrum
The spectrum of playful practices highlights the many activities and roles educators can adopt with children: From children’s self-directed free play to more guided forms of play, games and instruction.
Week 2
Teacher RePlay
Introducing Teacher RePlay
This module will show you how to apply the Teacher RePlay tool as a means of supporting playful learning in the classroom.
Teacher-directed play
This section will dive into applying the Teacher RePlay tool to teacher-directed play.
Free play
This section will dive into applying the Teacher RePlay tool to free play.
Guided play
This section will dive into applying the Teacher RePlay tool to guided play.
Week 3
Children ReAct
Introducing Children ReAct
This module will dive into a tool that helps you learn what children think of a learning through play activity.
The Six Steps to Children ReAct
We will explore the six steps to Children ReAct further in this section. You can skip this step and start from Step 4 if you are planning to only use the Self-Administered Children ReAct tool.
