Wellcome Sanger Institute

About

The Wellcome Sanger Institute is a world leader in genomics research. We generate and analyse data at a scale not easily possible elsewhere. We apply and explore genomic technologies to advance the understanding of biology and improve health.

Our ambition is vast – we take on projects that are not possible anywhere else. We use the power of genome sequencing to understand and harness the information in DNA.

Funded by Wellcome, we have the freedom and support to push the boundaries of genomics. Our findings are used to improve health and to understand life on Earth.

Wellcome Sanger Institute Scientific Training and Events (formerly Wellcome Connecting Science Learning and Training) is a programme of learning activities aligned with the distinctive science led by the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

We develop and deliver scientific conferences, training courses, and networking events linked to the work and expertise of the Institute’s scientists, focusing on disease, planetary, and engineering genomics.

Our events are designed to help global scientists and research professionals build the skills, knowledge, and connections they need throughout their scientific careers.

We run both conferences and training courses at our flagship home on the Wellcome Genome Campus, 10 miles south of the historic city centre of Cambridge, UK.

Each year, we run a number of courses at partner institutions across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Working with local scientists, these opportunities provide regionally tailored training to biomedical communities. All courses held outside the UK are generously subsidised, with additional travel and accommodation bursaries available.
