Syllabus

Week 1 - what a constitution is, the differences between the constitutions in the UK and the US and most importantly what this means for Prime Ministerial and Presidential power.

Week 2 - the power of the Prime Minister and President in relation to how secure their position.

Week 3 - the role that Parliament and Congress play in relation to Prime Ministerial and Presidential power.

Week 4 - the differing judicial systems in the UK and US including the powers of the UK Supreme Court and US Supreme Court.

Throughout the course you will:

  • Evaluate the key political institutions within the systems of government in the UK and US
