Syllabus
This course is about Teaching English/TEFL and Language Teaching; Professional Development for Teachers.
Underlying theories of second language acquisition and communicative language teaching that underpin current classroom practices.
Basic classroom management practices such as setting up activities, using the board, use of L1 and 2, interaction patterns.
Teaching language systems in particular grammar and lexis. Focus on their relative importance, how to approach analysing them and conveying meaning
Developing learners reading and listening skills.
Developing learners speaking and writing skills.
Teaching in different contexts such as monolingual or multilingual classrooms, teaching young learners, large classes etc.
