At the beginning of this course, we outlined the big questions of our investigation-- namely, what is communication and why does it matter for my employability? What communication skills do I have and how can I most effectively demonstrate these two employers? We've heard from Deakin academics, senior industry leaders, and practicing professionals, including professional practise communication credential holders. We've also reflected on our own experiences and communication capabilities. So you should have started to formulate and develop your own answers to these questions.

You may also have some ideas about what you need to work on to raise yourself to the next level. What next steps you need to take is up to you. Putting it all together
The two big questions we set out to answer at the beginning of this were ‘What is communication and why does it matter for my employability?’ and ‘What communication skills do I have and how can I most effectively demonstrate these to employers?’
By now, each of you will have come up with a very personal answer to these questions. We hope the material we’ve explored together in this course has contributed to your thinking.
What we covered
In Week 1 we explored what good communication looks like, its relationship to employability and practical tips for improving some of your key communication skills.
This included hearing different perspectives from employers, employees and your education team.
In Week 2 we examined how the world of work is changing and what this means in terms of a growing emphasis on key transferable skills like communication.
During this week you had the opportunity to benchmark your communication skills against formal qualifications frameworks and criteria before investigating what evidence you could draw on to demonstrate your communication expertise to employers.
