The action cards in this and the following steps provide pragmatic, step-by-step guidance to managing airway emergencies. They lend themselves very well to being used as part of hands-on skills or simulation training; an approach which we recommend.

The action cards apply to any critically ill patient, they are not COVID specific. Please refer to your health board’s policy for COVID-19 guidelines with specific attention to PPE.
